He's athletic enough to play both LF and 2b, though his footwork and arm his weakest links. That may force him to a corner OF spot. Either way, he gets pretty high praise for his athleticism. It's not lIke we're talking about Adam Dunn here. The main concern on Hiura is the injury.
Why is he not BPA?
I agree anderson was not the publicly available highest ranked player. What does that have to do with the actual best player available. We know teams spend a lot of time and money on their own metrics and scouting. The under slot deal is shows that anderson agreed that he was unlikely to be picked that high by other teams but it does not prove that he was not the BPA on the Braves board.
This isn't the basketball draft.
They see players themselves. Klaw has his personal ranking and his mock. They are usually VERY different.
They also talk to scouts, cross checkers and front office people.
Those people giving them information also have personal agendas.
Oh and agents. Agents love telling who is contacting them about players. They have no agenda.
Second and third hand information is a great source for decision making.

I'm just curious what anybody really likes about Keston Hiura? He isn't profiled to anything more than average defensively and is a 15 homer guy at his ceiling. And he hasn't done anything but DH all season bc he possibly needs TJ!! Wth is people projecting that as a top 5 talent in this draft to us? We can't possibly be as stupid to pick that at #5. I know most are homers and will go along with what ever the FO does but damn, come on. Don't ruin the pick bc you "hope" somebody will be there at 41.
I'm hoping Lewis is there and we pick him.

So is there a link to stream this thing online? MLB.com have it or do you have to be a subscriber?
I bet the Braves end up with the option to pick
1. The (relatively) safe bet to be a #3 in about 2 years, or
2. The HS player with a utility floor, and top of the order hitter with plus CF defense ceiling.
And then instead they take Hiura, the injured college hitter with no defensive position so they can sign him cheaply to free up money to sign another injured pitcher at 41.
Barves Way!!
If we were an American League team, Hiura might make some sense.
If Lewis is gone, Beck would be my next choice. The college hitters don't impress me as having the same kind of upside Lewis and Beck do. And I think a significant part of Lewis' upside is the likelihood he can play a premium defensive position at the major league level.

Fangraphs new mock goes McKay Greene Gore Lewis.
5. Atlanta – Kyle Wright, RHP, Vanderbilt
Wright is the top player on my board, and I think he’d be a steal here, but there’s a chance Atlanta goes underslot with Concordia Lutheran HS (TX) Shane Baz, UC Irvine 2B? Keston Hiura and Huntington Beach HS 1B Nick Pratto. They’ve also had North Carolina prep outfielder Austin Beck in to work out, but I think there’s less money to be saved there than with the other names. If Wright doesn’t go here, he should be considered the favorite at each pick until he does.
