If we can't beat them tonight facing whoever the hell this is, I give up when it comes to the Padres.
Fredi has real trouble with the top of the lineup. It is so bizarre.
It's not that bizarre. He just doesn't want to put a legit hitter at the top of the lineup, because he wants them up with men on base, and you're guaranteed to have PAs without base runners if you're at the top of the lineup.
However, he just doesn't get that this also means that you're not maximizing your chance of getting people on base for your middle of the order guys. It's a deficiency in logic on his part.

Uggla really getting buried on the bench this week. I've been advocating more PT for Elliot Johnson, but I never thought he should be getting most of the starts at second.

Sometimes I think Fredi has this passive-aggressive way of reacting to criticism. "So you think I'm playing Uggla too much. Fine I'll bench him. Hope that makes everyone happy."
Some people might want to bench Uggla. But I'm not one of them. I want a reduction in his playing time and post-season playing time to be driven by who's hot and who's not. But I want Uggla (and BJ Upton for that matter) to continue to play about half the games during the rest of the regular season so that they do have an opportunity to get hot. If Uggla goes back to being as productive as he was in the first half, that would be a significant boost for the team.

very surprised Uggs not in there vs LHP. Guess Fredi's finally had it with him.
Frustrations aside, it is truly amazing that the team is able to sit 30% of the payroll and still be in position that we are.
FWIW the last bad offensive year for Bossman he got hot at the right time, as of September 18th he had a .660 OPS then after that for the reg season he posted a .988 OPS. So hopefully he can do the same here. And then have an October a lot like he did in 2008 where he posted a .985 OPS

I'm actually starting to not like Gattis he swings at the first pitch so much. Its infuriating.
