yes, at a privately run hernia specialist center.

my own take is NAFTA needs to be renegotiated so that something like this can't happen...so much losing...cheap Canadian hernia specialists putting our doctors out of work

btw have we resolved the question of whether Rand's neighbor is ANTIFA or some other part of the lioness left

Great thread
Goldfly has been quick to fall for these things a lot lately.
Sad!
LOL @goldy
he cant get a hernia operation in Kentucky ?
but yeah Rand, put a spotlight on the Canadin Health Care System that aligns with Medicare for all
Again, he is a US Senator and he can't get a routine hernia operation in Kentucky ?
Unless ...

There is some nuance here. Though Shouldice is a private, for-profit hospital, it does almost all of its work under contract with various provincial governments. Thus, the majority of the hospital’s income comes from patients who pay their bills through their government-funded health plans, according to the Globe and Mail.
Canadian citizens pay into the country’s single-payer health-care system through federal and provincial taxes. Each province or territory has a health-care plan under which they can get free care. (What the country has is similar to the Medicare-for-All concept endorsed by some Democrats.)
Private, for-profit hospitals were outlawed under Ontario’s 1973 Private Hospitals Act, but already-existing facilities, including Shouldice, were exempted.

Rand is paying out of his own pocket
why Canada ?

rhetorical question
what is complicated about this particular operation ?
This is peculiar me think there is more than meets the eye
as in more serious than run of the mill hernia.
All the same using a hospital that is supported by a Medicare For All like system shines a light on how this goes.
It points out that in Canada even with a social medical program there are still specialists available for hire
Debunking the myth of one size fits all medical care.
The support staff technicians, clerical,X Ray , houskeeping, security are all funded by the Canadian Government.
The system espoused by many
As often as I disagree with Mr Paul I certainly hope it was just a friend works there that he wanted to do this routine surgery

half of what I wrote disappeared due to funky keyboard (see edited post) , But it does put to bed the boogeyman myth of Canadian Health Care.
Beause it is socialized medicine doesn't mean it is Civil War level care

Canadians don't like their system...we hate ours...the Brits hate theirs...some of the continental European countries seem reasonably satisfied...we should not be too proud to look abroad and emulate what works...
my own take is that there has been a sort of "capture" of our medical care system by the special interests within it...so it works well for the drug companies, for the hospitals and doctors...not so well for the rest of us
the same phenomenon seems to be at work with our educational system...it works well for the educational special interests...not so well for the students except for those lucky enough to live in certain suburban enclaves that their parents have to do a lot of research to find

His lawyers said a biomechanics expert is prepared to testify that Paul’s injuries were similar to those resulting from a 25 mph (40 kph) car crash.
