Are there any major hurdles left to clear for this project?
Dallas-based architecture firm HKS has been consulting with the team on the project.
To get an idea of who HKS is, and what we can possibly expect stadium wise: http://www.hksinc.com/
I didn't see any baseball stadiums, though.'
Actually, here's one http://www.hksinc.com/places/camelback-ranch/
It's a spring training stadium.

Their architecture looks a bit too modern art looking for my taste.
thank you weso1!
Seems like the Braves would prefer more of a classic look, but after the last few week we probably shouldn't be surprised anymore.
Just a question for us out-of-towners. How difficult will it be to get there from the Airport? Will there be decent inexpensive hotels nearby? Will there be anything to do in the area during the times the game is not going on? We try to make one trip a year or so. Will it be better or worse for us?
Thanks
It will be on the opposite side of the perimeter from the airport so it would be a fairly expensive cab ride. As far as hotels I think there are some options near there. As far as when the game is not going on, there is a mall right there and there is plenty of planned development. There will certainly be restaurants and bars, but there should be more development so it's tough to say exactly what will be there when the stadium opens. It's a pretty nice area.

I would book a hotel near the stadium and take the hotel shuttle from the airport. Another option is to rent a car. It is 20 miles from the airport to the Galleria area. It is 8 miles from the airport to Turner.

Thanks guys. I will try to make it to Turner a couple of more times before the move, but look forward to the new digs.
Another option is to ride the Marta. It would be a lot cheaper than taking a cab or renting a car.

Still shocking to me that I'll see the Braves in three different home stadiums by the time I'm 32. That's just crazy....
MARTA does not go into Cobb County and will probably never go there. Cobb County has a bus system to downtown. There is no way I would want to go through all of that hassle. If you can afford a flight to Atlanta, you should plan on a cab or hotel shuttle, like I mentioned earlier.

Something that bothers me about this is I wonder where that 372 million Liberty is paying is coming from. Is this money they could have been spending on free agents or could in the future? As someone who cant attend games my opinion might be bias but I would much rather spend that money on payroll. With that money the Braves could have signed Cano, and traded the farm for Price and re-signed him. Maybe I am biased because I dont get to go to games but another 20 years of Turner field is fine with me.

I believe I read something about long term debt... Something like bond payments of $5-6 Million per year.
For those of you on Twitter, there is a now a site for news on the new ballpark:

They are in the business of making money. Spending millions on bars and hotels will net them more profit than a 2nd baseman.
