Whole Foods employees want:
- hazard pay of double the current hourly wage
-paid leave for all workers who stay home or self-quarantine
-free coronavirus testing for all employees

GE workers walked out today to demand their plant start making ventilators.
That’s Lord of the Flies sh*t.
Factory workers shouldn’t have to force their company to help save lives. That’s what a president is supposed to do.
But right now, factory workers are all we got.
“America is the wealthiest nation on Earth, but its people are mainly poor, and poor Americans are urged to hate themselves… Every other nation has folk traditions of men who were poor but extremely wise and virtuous, and therefore more estimable than anyone with power and gold. No such tales are told by the American poor.”

The unemployment claims data put us on a trajectory to hit a 15% unemployment rate when the April employment report comes out (early May). The most recently released unemployment rate data was 3.5% in February.
Given what looks to be the likely path of the pandemic and re-opening of the economy, I'm spitballing these numbers going forward
May unemployment rate 20%
June 13%
July 10%
August 8%
After that it depends on whether there is more stimulus.
One way to think about what is happening is we have had an enormous negative shock to the economy. When things are re-opened there will be a very big positive shock. But we need to understand that the negative shock is bigger and will have the longer tail. So once you get to August or so, yes the economy will have been re-opened for a couple months but where we settle will not be the pre-virus economy. And the multiplier effects from the initial negative shock will still be working their way through the system.
