I think the team sees a guy with some upside who can play SS when Dansby gets hurt like he always does. Relatively cheap.

Retaining Arcia seems weird to me, especially because he felt like an afterthought to the Braves during the final couple of months and the playoffs.

Heyman said word is Freeman has been seeking around 6-180. If thats it, he should be signed already, thats not bad at all.

What sucks is, if this isn't agreed to and announced at some point tonight, we will likely have to wait until after the lockout to find out

I may be in the minority here, but I like the signings of Heredia and Arcia. Especially if the DH is implemented, you have a bench so far of Pina(great defensive catcher with some pop), Heredia(can play all 3 OF spots) and Arcia who can play anywhere. All for relatively cheap.

Had to wait for Braves twitter to break it down (they have been doing a good job of it with each signing so far). Arcia will make 1.6 millon in 2022. 1.3 million in 2023. He has a 2 million club option for 2024 with a 100K buyout.

Heredia and Arcia coming in a combined 1.4 million under what MLBTR projected for them in arbitration.

With the deadline looming I suspect Newcomb, Rich Rod, and Camargo are not tendered contracts. The rest will likely go to arbitration or possibly come to an agreement after the lockout.

I bet AA approached Heredia and Arcia with the lower than expected deals as a take it or get cut situation.

Add a LHH bench OFer and I think the bench is pretty solid.

The Arcia acquisition always struck me as similar to the Dodgers acquiring Turner while Seager played SS. They could let Seager walk and slide Turner over to SS.

So Swanson/Arcia is the same thing as Seager/Turner, but way crappier. I bet Arcia is the opening day SS in 2023 after Swanson walks.

Maybe we can grab Colin Moran or Adrianza. Moran he can play first.

I figured 6-180 was what FF would realistically cost. Who here wouldn’t give that to him?

Wendle for Misner is a perfect example of the Rays trading a moderately priced MLB player for a prospect projected to be a 1-2 win player. They value those guys more highly than most other teams.

If we let Swanson go, i think we'll aim a bit higher than Arcia to replace him.

True, but having Arcia as a cheap backup backup option is good to have, and if Dansby gets hurt I can trust Arcia as our 9 hitter with decent defense.
