Purdy is going to be a top QB in the league for a long time. Pocket presence and ability to read a defense while throwing with anticipation are skills you can actually improve when you show promise early on. He will be better.

Purdy won't be tested for at least 2 more years. Odds are he holds out a bit in his last year.

If Purdy was paid even what Pickett was paid the Niners would have to make strategic role player cuts but they're still OK. But when he hits FA, if he was getting paid what Dak's getting paid (IMO a fair comp to purdy) with an AAV of 40M, That's basically losing George Kittle and Javon Hargrave.

If he's franchise tagged, thats still 36M, that's Deebo and Juice.

Purdy's test will be when he is required to be the man, not the manager.

No one would call Purdy the next brady with a super bowl win on a loaded team. What made Brady SPecial wasn't the first 3 rings, it was th eback half of his career. When he got his other 4 and proceeded to shatter every known record.

Right but Brady was basically.l just a game manager that 1st year. The narrative of the parallels would be obvious

He looks back way too fast - Purdy is assuming he is going to run his complete route. Its 100% on Ayiuk.

Yes and when he has another two seasons of reps I'd expect him to be a better QB than he is today (which is already a damn good QB).

Purdy has a below average skill set, but he makes up for it with tools like reading a defense and throwing with accuracy and anticipation, which he is clearly above average in all those categories. That's basically the opposite of a guy like Justin Fields, who has an skillset, but has below average (honestly terrible) ability to read a defense and doesn't throw with accuracy/anticipation.

Purdy doesn't have above average arm strength. Athletically he actually rates well in comparison to the rest of hte league. Check out his sprint times.

I was quite surprised how mobile and elusive he was. On the last 49ers TD against Detroit I thought we had him sacked at least twice to end the drive but he escaped and converted with his legs

Yeah - The misconception is that he is the flabby guy off the couch and is a trash athlete. He only has an average arm (makes up for it with accuracy/anticipation) but in terms of running he is in the top 10-20% of QB's in the league.

His 4.8 40 isn't anything special, though I'm sure it's better than the Stafford's and Burrow's of the NFL.

Purdy is a decent athlete, but he is undersized with a below average arm. That's why he has a below average skill set.

Below average arm is a massive stretch.

Let me know what you're basing that off of.

Wrong. Aiyuk looks back when he releases, exactly as he is supposed to. Purdy hesitated and the ball sailed and was thrown to Aiyuk's back shoulder. That was 100% on Purdy.

You can literally see it every time he isn't able to plant his feet. The ball sails and lacks zip.

The play on that 1st holding call against Trent Williams where Purdy rolls right then throws across the field to Kittle is a prime example of this. Balls travels barely 35 yards in the air and looked like that was almost as far as he could throw it without stepping into it. Again, he's very accurate and has elite playmakers, so it works. But he simply isn't a guy that is going to consistently fit throws it into narrow windows.

Odds are it wasn't a fully designed route it was probably a feel route, AIyuk having the option to go or post up depending on safety. The safety only slowed down on covering him because of Aiyuk slowing up to potentially post. Had it been a go ball the safety is running in step with him and again even on a pure go it's still 50/50 as that ball was laid up there.

He's not top 10 to 20%. He can be top half. But there's a large swath between the athletes (Lamar, Fields, ALlen, Hurts) and the statues (Carr, Goff, Jimmy G, Tanne) Purdy Ran a 4.82 40 which is very respectable. He's in that Daniel Jones/Mahomes area. Which is a good spot to be.

But realize to be top 10 to 20% would mean he's basically top 10-20 as there's about 90 active roster QBs.

Bring the support to the table. The holds that these people are showing were EGREGIOUS and significantly impacted the play.
