Dodgers-Braves-Marlins' three-way trade far from done. Medical concerns in multiple directions, esp. with Hector Olivera's elbow. But ...

I guess I just share the injury concerns more than anything.

If completed, Dodgers get Wood, Latos, Johnson, Peraza, Morse. Braves get Olivera, Zach Bird, draft pick. Marlins get 3 low-level pitchers.

Not sure he is going to get better but I would agree that he is a really good pitcher. I just think like all other pitchers there is a clock on him as to when he is going to get healthy. Braves have historically (last 5 years) waiting 1 year too long to trade a pitcher doing well. I'm glad we are going in the other direction. What would the board have thought if they traded Hanson after year 2? Jurrjens? As long as they keep replenishing the system with these arms I'm ok selling them at a high point.

This deal makes so much more sense if he needs Tommy John.

Oh, it's not like I totally disagree. Just think that we have to get at minimum a top 10 HITTING prospect and more. I'm concerned that Hart is peddling CJ because the Dodgers can pay that dude to be nothing. It will minimize the trade.

This is quite true, but I just dislike the idea of Olivera being a primary piece so very much.

    11. Zach Bird, RHP Video: The athletic 6’4/205 righty is looking to buck the trend of Mississippi high school prospects busting in pro ball. He signed for $140,000 in 2012 and has made a lot of progress in his few years in pro ball. Bird sat 88-91 mph when he was drafted and he now sits 91-95, hitting 97 mph often, with reports of 100 mph. Scouts laud his makeup and smarts for pitching, but his delivery, command and off-speed will determine if his big league future is as a starter or reliever, with some calling a LaTroy Hawkins-type relief career a median outcome. The delivery isn’t the most natural and he’s still working on control/command, but he’s still just 20 years old, his curveball flashes 55 and there’s flashes of a changeup and feel to pitch.
