Was good. Went to an outdoor restaurant that was packed to capacity. 80 degrees. Good friends. Etc.

What would make it a perfect weekend is if you could explain how this bill is voter suppression.

You can't. Because it's not. But you will still keep saying it anyway bc you are told to.

It's interesting how the least consequential part of the law (food and water) is getting the most press. It's a pretty silly restriction that solves a problem that doesn't exist but it doesn't really do much harm either.

I think this is getting the press because the other provisions aren't really things that will outrage most people. Some people will be outraged but it doesn't have the mass appeal of the food and water provision.

The percentage of Americans in support of voter ID is yuge.

It’s not a debatable issue. The ones who think it’s voter suppression are the ones trying to commit voter fraud.

To me the biggest issue with it is how tone-deaf it is to the actual problems people face. The fact that lines are so long that people are giving out food and water in the first place is embarrassing, and there ought to be Federal legislation to help ensure easier access to voting. Politicians shouldn’t be allowed to set up conditions where it takes several hours to vote. In my rural town I can vote in 2 minutes. Having to stand in line for hours would really make me reconsider voting.

It must really suck for the GOP in that what seems like their best option at retaining power against the coming blue wave is something that's such a loser. This voter suppression effort is only going to turn even more people against the GOP.

Early voting exists. Those waiting in line on Election Day made their decision.

Really? A few hours wait would make you reconsider?

    That’s some weak sauce.

99.99% of places don’t have lines at all to vote.

This is much ado about nothing.

The fact Jim Crow was even brought up in this thread is a joke

I don’t think passing this bill is going to quite go the way that the Georgia R’s think it will. But then again, the GOP chair was stupid enough to lead a firing squad about nonexistent election fraud that led to them throwing the senate in the trash.

I wouldn’t call Georgia a blue state, it’s a purple state. But I don’t think it’s a state where doing this will pay off. Atlanta is still growing, pretty sure the film and tech industry is growing in the state, and this would likely continue to push away the suburban moderates.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Its nice that Republicans have renewed confidence in polls. I am sure that will last.
