Nintendo just fired a huge shot.

Announced today that part of the Suepr Smash DLC content is Ryu from Street Fighter.

I just watched the announcement video of Ryu on Smash during E3... OMG. I am going to download as soon as I get home but apparently some of the servers are shut down because of the demand overload.

Bethesda's conference was outstanding. Dishonored 2 looks great and the customization in Fallout 4 looks awesome.

My thoughts on the first day and a third of E3. Bethesda had a great conference. Solidly executed with great games. Can't wait to get my hands on Dishonored 2 and Fallout 4. XBox had a great conference. Well produced and love the backwards compatibility. EA had a good conference. That yarn game looks fun to play with my kids. Ubisoft was very meh. I just don't see that new game working out for them. I personally hate the direction Ubisoft is headed. I really want a Beyond Good and Evil 2 and they have essentially taken the position of screw our initial fans. Playstation had a horribly produced conference. Just awful. But I think they had the 2 best looking games I saw at E3. That new game with the robot dinosaur things looked really fun. Like the perfect combination of Far Cry and Monster Hunter. Uncharted 4 looks incredible. I mean I was expecting it to look great, but it looked damn good.

Holy ****ing ****. I've been waiting for this day for 20 years. It's almost already reached it's 2 million Kickstarter goal in just a couple of hours. That's insane.

PC mods for Fallout 4 will be available for XB1. Could be the start of modding console games. Would be nice.

Which is sad, that Wii U is a really fun console. I think they need to ditch gimmick gaming. Have a wonky portable, 3ds type or maybe a funky tablet, and go back to the board on the consoles. If they put out something that competes head to head with Sony and Microsoft I think they'll fare better. People still love Nintendo's IPs. Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Donkey Kong, all are legendary. What they don't necessarily love is having to access them through unconventional means like they have the last 2 times. Gamecube flopped because it used different media than PS2 and XB. The mini-dvds were a failure. N64 was great but aged poorly because it was the last cartridge. Last console run Nintendo truly dominated was the SNES over the Genesis. I mean the Wii beat it's opponents in console sales, but it wasn't as profitable as the 360 and PS3, nad it's gamers left it. Wii stepped into a void of casual gamers, but in the end the casual gamer doesn't want to spend 250 bucks for a console and 50-60 bucks a game they'll play for a few weeks.

Nintendo IMO has a few options ahead of them. They can stay weird on all fronts and hope the niche sticks with them. THey can stay weird on one front, or go more conventional across the board. I like the 2nd option. THe Nintendo DS was a resounding success. The original is the biggest selling portable gaming system, the 3DS could very well come close to 100M units moved by the time it's cycle is done. The 3DS appeals to a broad market. Casual gamers have an appeal, but primarily it's for people who want something lighter. It's a better gaming alternative to a tablet or phone.

There is one other option Nintendo has, and that's to fast track console releases. Stay weird but instead of keeping the same console, upgrading it. Keep games backwards compatible, so on so forth.

You can turn off motion controlls. Do that before even starting to play. It's terrible. You're a gamer so using the right stick for aiming is first nature.
