Braves sign nick Vincent and brad brach to minor league deals
Looks like the Braves have plenty of mediocre options to fill out that last bench slot now.
Assuming the roster is complete, I’m very interested to see how they navigate the rotation with 3 legit SPs and a bunch of question marks.
I don't get the crappy infield adds unless we just need them for spring.
I know Swanson gets hurt a lot, but that is why they have Acria, right? And everyone thinks Shewmake can play SS. There has to be a glove only SS you can stash in AAA.
I like stockpiling the OFs b/c I can see a need to mix and match a ton given the Acuna injury and a lot of guys with big plusses and big minuses.
With the number of days in a row and the lack of firepower, I'd consider having 3 catchers over multiple can't hit INF. It's probably better for Contreras to play. WE do have both vet catchers on a deal this year AND next. But Contreras is one of our best pinch hitters right now. This season is going to be a grind so maybe they just option him and let him catch 10-20 games that way.
It's an article from the Athletic, i'm not sure how many here are suscribed. It'll be interesting what AA does with SS next year. Possibly have Swanson, Correa, Turner and Xander as FA's next winter. With guys like Smith, Jansen, Morton, and Swanson off the books, certainly would seem to have money to go after one of them next year.
Lots of money should be available. Possible/probable needs: A real CF, TOR guy, maybe a closer us Matzek drops efficiency. Swanson may be an affordable premium.
I'm not sure why anyone thinks the Correa rumors are realistic. When was the last time the Braves were able to outbid a large market team for a top free agent? It simply won't happen.
