This derives from the so-designated Mukaki Rebuild, the first season after we blew it up. I think it was Dalyn’s invention. The catchphrase was “In a Mukaki Rebuild, anything can happen” What, exactly, this means, and what, precisely it’s playing off of is open to interpretation. But it, uh, stuck.
I will give Neck this much—he was ok as a player, but as a generator of ongoing board memes (Neck, Mukaki Rebuild, offseason lifting) he offered significant surplus value. Almost Lairdian.

Why would the Braves acquire a DH to sit on the bench when an AL team will find better value using the DH as a...DH?
AA better have something up his sleeve because all the good options are getting snapped up pretty quickly.
I didn't say he had to be starting every day, I said all along that Camargo and/or Duvall could use OF time too. Maybe even Culberson sometimes vs the Nats. How much any of them starts per week would depend on performance, etc.
One reason I am so against bringing back Markakis is that I don't see him accepting many days off or platooning. Plus I expect his hitting and defense to only get worse.

Heyman's Braves Notes from 12/20:
Atlanta Braves
— The Braves tried for Michael Brantley but weren’t prepared to go to the $32 million deal he got from the Braves …
— The Braves continue to have a very tight budget for a team with exploding revenues …
— Craig Mish, a noted Florida radio guy, suggested the Braves were willing to trade top third base prospect Austin Riley for Marlins star catcher J.T. Realmuto. However, the Braves did not offer pitcher Mike Soroka in tandem with Riley, according to sources.
yeah that's my thought as well
There's a difference between not being able to pay a price for a guy and not being willing. Remember, there were other teams in on Brantley who were unwilling to go that high too.
I won’t be upset unless I see a SOURCES:Braves to re-sign Nick Markakis. Until then I don’t believe it.
Do the Reds have too many outfielders now? What about Schebler?

I only care about Winker on the Reds
From the same article:
“The Reds have been the price for Sonny Gray high to this point. The Yankees don’t seek the very top prospects, but the ones just below, Double-A and Triple-A pitchers the Reds prefer not to trade … “
Those pitchers would be guys like santillan, Gutierrez, Mella and Rainey...all FV 45 arms that are much more in line with what makes sense for a Gray return.
Comparable arm from the Braves would be Muller.
