As usual, you have no idea what folks are talking about when they make comments about luck.

Luck is a huge part of baseball outcomes. The Braves won the WS. It happened. It was awesome. It is historical fact that will never change.

It was, however, largely blind luck that brought the title to Atlanta. And that luck is not something to rely on, or plan around, or expect to continue happening...or stopping. It's not luck in the sense that the Braves are lucky or unlucky...it's random variance.

So the point of all stats is to use them to predict what is most likely to happen in the future. They are required for planning purposes. In order for stats to be as predictive as possible, as much randomness (or luck) must be stripped away as possible. Once folks realized RBI isn't a predictive stat (though it is certainly a stat that describes what happened), modern analytics were born.

When folks claim something is lucky, they aren't saying it didn't happen, shouldn't have happened, or is any lesser of an accomplishment. All they are saying is that accomplishment is either likely or unlikely to happen again once all the randomness is stripped away. For example, Chris Johnson and his batting title. It happened, and is historical fact. Those hits were awesome, and they unquestionably helped the Braves get very real wins in very real baseball games. However, everyone with more than 8 brain cells looked at that .400 BABIP, understood it was a fluke, and knew he was extremely unlikely to have another season like that. Well, everyone but the guy who signed him to an extension after that batting title because he didn't understand predictive vs descriptive stats.

After 164 AA PAs, I think it's just about time to bump him to AAA. That should get him ~100 AAA PAs by my June 20th guess.

Not sure on the source but there were a couple of tweets last night about Harris exit velocities over 110 mph.

He’s a doubles machine and with those exit velos he could add loft and start hitting more homeruns.

You bring him up, what do you do when a LHP throws? He can't hit them in AA.

Mentioned that yesterday. If Waters weren't hurt, he could be brought up to replace Demeritte (now that he's turned back into a pumpkin) and platoon in CF - that would mean Harris could be given everyday CF ABs in Gwinnett.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

in the rare times that happens.....Duvall

Or you say it's still a small sample size and you let him play.

Harris is not going to come up to be platooned, at least not strictly. They will give him plenty of chances to produce vs LHP.

He's struggling against AA LHP. What would happen against better pitching? There's no need to rush the kid, especially when there are things he needs to work on.

    As I said here:

He has had 38 ABs vs LHP so far in 2022, so those numbers are meaningless from a predictive standpoint, though it wouldn't be surprising to see him with an OPS delta of .100+. Either way, Harris vs RHP would still help this horrid OF.

I also see 22 PAs in 2019 as a RHB. He was a switch hitter?
He didn't have terrible splits in 2021, so unless the quality of just LHPs he is facing has improved while the RHPs he is facing hasn't, I would chalk it up to that 38 AB small sample size for now.

I hope this means putting Duvall on the bench but you never know with Snit.
