Callaspo, as a free agent who signed last off-season, has right to reject any trade before June 15. That may be holdup, one source says.
Uribe is far superior to Callapso.
I don't get why we'd be in on Uribe mind you, I'm virtually certain we'll have to give up a prospect as I doubt the Dodgers will cut him or care about the money difference. They don't have money issues. If we trade any prospect who' sin our top 30 with Callaspo for Uribe, I'll be confused. It would mean they think they can compete this year, but don't want to invest the prospects to go after a real talent like Frazier.
Stockholm, more densely populated than NYC - sturg
Uribe is also better than Callaspo - but seems like a redundant player as Chris Johnson
The Dodgers will likely trade Turner for some pitching help to clear some spots for these guys.
The Dodgers don't give a whit for money. I doubt they'd include a prospect in exchange for salary relief, and I doubt they'd want Callaspo enough to extend themselves at all. They're just looking to dump Uribe on someone to clear space for Guerrrero/Olivera.
If we got Uribe, he'd be a clunker for us, and somehow Bert would end up with a WS ring. On the bright side, we could revisit the El Juan Chubbard nickname.

Uribe is 36. There isn't much left in the tank -- never was, really. He's a mediocre ballplayer. Perhaps he'd represent an upgrade from Callaspo, but he can only play 3B anymore and offensive production is clearly on the decline. Maybe he'd benefit from moving away from Chavez Ravine, but I doubt it.
Color me confused.

Can confirm @Ken_Rosenthal's report that the #Braves and #Dodgers are talking about a trade involving Juan Uribe and Alberto Castillo.

You mean I have to watch that fat **** all year?
I assume the Dodgers will DFA Callaspo, as the Braves would have done in a few days time. So the Dodgers were just looking to clear a roster spot and get some semblance of value for Uribe (in a fringe prospect and modest salary relief). The Braves get a small upgrade to their 3B depth for minimal cost.
@Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: Deal between #Dodgers and #Braves would involve six players. Uribe and minor leaguer for Callaspo and three minor leaguers.
@Ken_Rosenthal
Some of minor leaguers #Dodgers would receive from #Braves would add to team’s pitching depth.
