Fish could be sending a message to Fernandez. They don't want to move him but do want him to conform in the clubhouse.

If they got him without giving up De Leon, then they did good.

there are so many questions around this... how is this going to affect Jansen? He would get paid so much better if he were a closer, but now he is probably going to be a setup man on his walk year. plus both Jansen and Chapman are in a walk year... I don't think they will keep both since both guys are closers, so who are they going to try to extend... I doubt Chapman is wanting an extension pre FA.. He will get a good payday on the open market... isn't BorASS his agent too..

Boras is Chapman's agent so you can bet he's going to test FA. One of Chapman or Janson, or maybe both, will not be happy this year at all.

Heyman says none of the prospects are Seager, Urias, or DeLeon. Gotta be sending Peraza then.

No chance.. they are going to try and get a Royals type pen since they are missing out on the elite starters. Get ok starters who can get you through 6 innings.. shut down pen from there..

Ugh. If the Dodgers can get a talent like Chapman headlined by a Jose Peraza package it makes the Olivera deal even more abhorrent.

the message board will cross over into the 4th dimension if Peraza is the headline piece. I don't think we are prepared for this if that is truly the case.

But it would also make the returns for Heyward and Upton look better as well.

The Dodgers are building a team for the postseason—I assume they'll want to keep both and have a shutdown 'pen.

Margot is an interesting player. I saw him a good bit in greenville a couple of years ago. I think he's a pretty good bet to be a sold big-league starter, though probably not a star. He's been consistently young for his level and has held his own everywhere. Good glove/arm, good speed, could be a decent hitter, though more a doubles guy than a power threat. I'd guess Cameron Maybin with a more consistent glove and the possibility of a slightly better hit tool. There was some hand-wringing in Boston after the Kimbrel deal, but with Mookie and JBJ in front of him and Benintendi behind, he didn't really have a spot there. We're hungry as hell for positional talent but I don't think that he's a centerpiece for a frontline starter.

His list of suitors will be EXTREMELY short, especially with that contract. I say call up Washington and offer to take him at a reduced salary, and have them throw in a nice prospect. Like... a nice one.

That guy would love nothing more than to fire fastballs at Bryce Harper for the next few years. Plus, I'd just like to see how much Mich Ultra he and AjP could pound post game after dusting Harper off. That would be one heck of a battery team.
That post shows some true evil genius potential. You might consider a career change to the supervillian business.

Coppollela should consider acquiring good players for players who are not very good. I feel like that would greatly improve the team.

The views on Peraza seem to vary quite a bit amongst evaluators. I get the sense that BA still sees him in the 40 - 60 range (I don't have insider access, so not sure the latest), while other evaluators like McDaniel and Law had him more 75 - 125. I would think it would take more than just Peraza to get Chapman for 1 year / $13m and a comp pick.
