Fortunately Braves have the draft pool to sign him.

    Still will be tough though.

We could easily afford it if we save 2 million on Anderson. We are projected to save 2.5 to 3 million so theres still more money left to go over slot on other picks. We also are allowed to go over by 5% which I think could be an extra 500k.

We have a surplus of middle of the rotation prospects. I'm afraid we just drafted three more.

Need 12 pitchers, only need 3 outfielders. I have far more faith in our ability to develop and scout pitching.

I know we signed a few bats last year and are expected to sign more this year.
Yeah. There is some balance when you look at the draft and the international signings together.

Its not that often a player projects to be an ace.

I don't think we would have drafted him without a pretty good understanding of what it would take to sign him.

On a side note: Nationals drafted Dane Dunning. I'm conflicted. "Boo Dane!" Nope, can't do it. Stupid Nationals.

Well done Braves. I was very skeptical but it looks like they got two legit talents at 40 and 44. Hopefully we can sign them all.

Dont worry, odds are they trade him before he reaches the majors.

Didn't like the strategy, but looks like got 3 good arms. Would much rather have had Lewis at 3. They were probably hoping a good bat fell to 40, and it didn't work the way they wanted. We will never hear that though. Either way, 3 good arms to help through shutouts.

Ah, that's right. So we still don't have a surplus? haha

True, which makes it even more important to target the elite ceiling guys when you draft third and not settle for a couple guys who are much longer shots to be aces.

I like Anderson. If we picked 12th I'd have been happy. I'm not happy with him at 3 even if it gets us Wentz.

With our system the way it is, I'd have taken the risk on Pint or Groome's ceilings. Even Puk.

Wasn't the strength of this draft high school pitching? I guess the Braves took that to heart. Definitely did not expect 3 high school pitchers with these first three picks tonight. Well, it'll still be fun rooting for them every fifth day! Go Braves!

    Anderson 3.5
    Wentz 3.5
    Muller 2

still saves you money to use at 76...

JC and the 12 disciples. For a decent poster, you've been doing nothing but ladling sh*t tonight. Get over yourself.

We've had by far the worst offense in baseball over the last three seasons. Apparently we're going to buy our way out of that on the international market. Sounds good. What's 3-4 more years? I think I'm going back on self imposed hiatus until the "long haul" gets here. At least we have the Olympics this summer. Rowing events in Rio's raw sewage Zika water should be interesting.

Anderson is a fine pitcher but I don't see him as a top 10 talent. Without draft slotting I don't see him sniffing the top 10.
No HS pitcher taken in the top 15 or so has a ceiling of a mid-rotation starter.
