It’s not completely outlandish to compare Sale to Hamels because the realistic worse case scenario for Sale is that he throws a total of 0 innings for the Braves. He is a walking injury list, and it’s wise to acknowledge that possibility.

However, this is virtually the same scenario as Glasnow to the dodgers. Nobody is counting on Sale for 150 innings, just like nobody is counting on Glasnow for any bulk innings. Sale and Glasnow are on the best teams in the sport for one reason, and one reason only: to strike out 10+ batters in 2-3 games in October. Nothing more. That is what WS favorites are looking for, and that’s what they got.

Was that worth Grissom? I suspect Braves fans overrate him considering he is nothing more than a light hitting 2B with nowhere to play on this roster, but again, Sale not being acquired for his 2024 WAR…is he being acquired for 2-3 starts in October, and those games are worth much more than bulk regular season innings for true WS contenders like the Braves.

Sale, Kelenic and Lopez for Grissom and spare parts makes this a good offseason for AA. It’s a solid B+ now that can become an A- with the acquisition of a legit RHH 4th OFer.

I mean if Sale is healthy, this is a no brainer win, if not, it's probably a loss.

Sale when healthy is filthty. But Sale hasn't thrown 200 innings since 2017. As long as he's not as hurt as he was in 2021 or 2022 we'll be ok.

Everyone wanted a team “built for October”. Well guess what? That’s exactly what AA just built.

Sale was not acquired to pitch 200 innings. He wasn’t acquired to pitch even 100 innings, though that’s likely the projected contribution.

Sale was acquired to dominate 2-3 games in October. Those are the only games in question for this Braves team, and Sale was acquired to help win a couple of them. Everything else is gravy for a team that will win 95+ games with or without him.

This is a win. Grissom was never gonna play on the MLB club and we got a difference maker when healthy. Sale is the guy you want starting in a best of 5. He still strikes out alot of guys. Limit his innings and keep him as fresh as you can for the playoffs. The next move needs to be signing AA long term. If thats true about the deferred money till 2035 and we only owe him 500k then we still have plenty of ammo left for another deal. Wow.

Some thought the Braves were fine. The crybabies (me included) thought otherwise. Just like AA.

I’ve been saying for months now there was no way AA would allow Elder to start another playoff game for the best team in baseball. While I didn’t have Sale as a possibility, I was 100% confident an impact arm would be acquired.

Everyone who was paying attention knew AA would get an impact arm. I’ve been saying it for months.

AA has built the best squad in the sport. It’s all on the players now…and for Snit not to bumble things too badly.

Snit got hit postseason driving license revoked last season. I guarantee AA takes over like 2021 this postseason

I mean I get what you're saying for sure... but 200 innings is turning into a rare thing... only 5 pitchers had over 200 innings in 2023 and the highest was only 216 (Logan Webb).

DOB confirmed that all of the money the Braves are taking on is deferred... Sale's figure will be $500 K for 2024... that's crazy.

Thats insane and brilliant by AA. Still have money left in case one of the top SP are left without a team.

Unless he scoured the market for something like this because he has no real space left.
