I'm not sure how 3 league min guys are better than a 7 WAR guy

Well lets assume that the 3 league min guys give you 3-4 WAR. Headley will conservatvely make around 15-18 million. An astute GM will be able to find an addition 3-4 WAR with that type of money and probably even more.

Couldn't you argue that if we just have those guys laying around then we can have Headley + the league min guys and their "3-4 WAR"?

The Braves restrictions on how much they can spend on players salaries makes it murky. Braves are on an unbelievable run of producing league min effective players. I don't see why that is going to abruptly stop anytime soon. I realize that Headley is good but I just don't think its worth the money to pay him plus what we would have to give up.

You are talking about a package of Wood/Gattis/Cabrera and maybe even more

Would like to see us add another reliever, but I'm guessing Wren will focus the next couple of days trying to strengthen the bench with a middle INF.

If they would take Wood/Gattis/Cabrera I couldn't trip over fast enough to agree.

Yeah, we know. You think Gattis sucks.

Braves are not just going to trade all of their good young players for a guy who is about to get paid. If he was under control for antoehr 2-3 years then I would see it. Teams are holding onto their prospects more and more now.

We also have about 25 mil coming off the books at the end of the year. Too bad Wren signed BJ and didn't go with a stop-gap, then we'd have like 40 mil to blow.....

Yeah, if that contract was never signed I would have a different mindset on this but we are screwed with another Uggla for 4 more years.

Absolutely no way I make that trade. Headley is 30 and has had one good year in his career.

Don't worry, the Braves wouldn't make that deal either.

That second clause is simply not true; he's had one outstanding season in his career, but he's had several more good seasons.

I get enjoyment out of people that don't consider the park a player plays in.

If trading Wood/Cabera/Gattis was trading all of our young players (even though Gattis isn't young) then you must not have a lot of faith in our farm system.

Age only matters when you are talking about Headley, not Gattis.

But Gattis is a Brave, so his real age is about 22.

Lol. We have one guy on the team a more than 20 hr and he's the one that makes us screwed? How'd you even get to be a mod? Were you the 11th caller or something?
