But, I would guess a hit while the QB is in the pocket is far more likely to cause injury because they- 1) May not see it coming, 2) are still trying to make pass before getting hit (Palmer for example), 3) greater chance of a fatass DL falling on your knee and tearing it to shreds. Outside of the pocket, QBs are more likely to see it coming and brace for impact.

In before Zito posts Gif of RG3 having Ngata spraining RG3s knee (which he missed 1 game) or Vick and ignoring guys that got injured in the pocket (Palmer, Marino, Montana, Young, Big Ben, etc)
But pocket QB's don't normally get hurt as often. And the primary reason for that is they have 350+ lb OL blocking for them, and there are a the rules changes pretty much prevent QB's from getting hit hard in the pocket. When you are out of the pocket, you are fair game. Yes you can be smart about it at times, but there is an enhanced risk for injury once you leave the pocket.

Give me a break. It's common knowledge shared by virtually everyone in the league.

Bill Pollian was asked who he would have taken between Luck and RG3, prior to being fired. He said Luck, due to the injury issues associated with a mobile QB.

Wow, Bill Polian would take Luck over RG3. Big surprise and that solves it!

So you have no proof. Just what I thought.

Kaep took less hits Than the majority of pocket QB's did last year. RG3 got roughed up but he is going to learn and he will start taking less hits as well. When you aren't a sitting target it will be more difficult to square up.

Thank you for wanting to talk about REAL football. I saw a score go by on WC stuff yesterday...Nigeria vs Iran 0-0 F. I'd kill myself watching that.

HBO must have done a lot of convincing. They have not been interested the last 3 or 4 years or so.

Regarding Hard Knocks, it sounds like no teams want to participate in it. But the NFL forces them too.

NFL GM, or random message board poster.... hmmmmm

    Also Joe Flacco on Kaep:

“quarterbacks like [Kaepernick] are eventually going to have to become mostly pocket passers to survive in this league.”

Maybe if Flacco was able to get out of the pocket more he might be a better QB!

Whats funny is the comparisons that have been made to other mobile QB's like Vick/Stewart/etc..These guys were never good throwers of the football. Kaep/RG3 not only have elite athleticism but they can also throw the ball well.

And yet you are so knowledgeable on the subject?

It's common knowledge shared by the wide majority in the league. You and thethe can choose what you want to believe. If you want to stick your head in the sand, that's fine.

I think the point is, these two guys throw the ball more effectively than most running QBs. The league hasn't really seen guys with that throwing ability that can move like that. Flacco is thinking of guys like Vick and them.

Redskins DE Jason Hatcher will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee Thursday and be out 4-6 weeks.
One of the free agency's worst contracts now looks even worse. Hatcher, who will turn 32 next month, signed a four-year, $27.5 million deal with the Redskins in March as he came off a career-high 11 sacks (he had 16 in the seven previous seasons combined). The scope is just a minor clean-out procedure, but any knee surgery is scary for a player on the wrong side of 30. If the Redskins are going to have any prayer of correcting last year's leaky defense, they desperately need Hatcher to be getting after the quarterback in Week 1 and performing at his 2013 level.

Exactly. The only real mobile QB comps are McNabb/Young/Elway and those guys ended up being pretty good.
