EH, not good for Disney. SHort of a major setback it should be scoring in September which was sooner than TFA. COsts Disney some money, but as long as the movie is good, everyone will forget.

Finally saw Apocalypse. Few things that got me.

For starters the film was so heavily reliant on the previous ones that you can get lost easily. My girlfriend was lost several times in the film because she was confused by DOFP happenings and just who people were. If you didn't watch the Wolverine films or really remember X2. Stryker was in DOFP but his role wasn't first and foremost.

Second was as my girlfriend pointed out. If Magneto could control trace elements in the ground, wouldn't he also be controlling iron in people's bodies?

Secondly WTF was up with the Deus Ex Machina that started the Magneto turn?

Third is the choice for the 4 Horsemen. Psylocke i kinda get. Angel had aligned with Apocalypse in the comics. Classically he was a hero. Seemed like a cheap way to get him to fall after fighting in Berlin for some reason. Hate that he's killed off as he's a pretty complex character. Storm and Magneto though, that's basically sacrilege. Magneto's association with Apocalypse is minimal. Storm kind of fills the roll of X-Man in there (Gambit, Wolverine, and Angel all were Death)

Other non-related to the quality of the movie thoughts. Olivia Munn will be stored in many people's spank bank.

Real talk - don't you feel like a creep reading people's private conversations? To me that's always seemed voyeuristic.

WE live in a totally voyeuristic society. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are founded on those principals.

I just find the sex tape culture weird. It's one thing if someone ultimately decides to profit off of it (Paris Hilton or Kim K.), but it's another thing entirely when it's like Olivia Munn where her phone/cloud got hacked and someone lifted the pictures. I don't see the difference between that and someone sitting in a window sill watching someone undress.

You're not incorrect. We as a society need as much information as possible. SIlly thing with Olivia Munn though is we've seen her titties.

    Saw the lobster Sunday night.

What a fun and weird movie. A social commentary on relationships in society and individuality vs. Conformity.

Definitely suggest. It's 2 hours but definitely a wild ride.

Rainy day yesterday. Watched Now You See Me 2. If you liked the first one it's just as entertaining. Ridiculous cgi, plot twists, and such.

The first movie was a disappointing. smug mess. I really disliked the "heroes" and found myself rooting for Michael Caine's character over them. IDK, the magic was cheesy, the plot forced, the acting hammy and the entire thing rubbed me the wrong way.

I recommend Free State of Jones. It's a very interesting movie developed from a fairly obscure story from the Civil War era. I don't imagine it will hit home for everyone, but the political tenor of the movie is very hard to pin down. There's a strong libertarian undertone that gets masked a bit due to the Civil War action and racial angles present in the plot. I read up on the true story after I saw the movie and the movie only gives us a glimpse of the historical Newton Knight. McConaughey goes through an entire movie without uttering "Aw right, aw right, aw right." Solid performance by MM and the rest of the cast. But the story is the key and it is a very interesting story. Movie runs 2 hours and 20 minutes and it's slow in spots, but get the medium popcorn and you'll be set.

    I want to see it.

I still have Independence Day, Conjuring 2, and Shallows first.

So I doubt it'll still be in theaters in 2 weeks.

Jones May last longer in the theatres than Independence

Central Intelligence was fun. I really enjoyed it. But i must say, the best part of the movie was Aaron Paul using his catch phrase and calling Kevin Hart "bitch." I might have been the only person in the theater who got the connection because I was the only one laughing.

Saw a few interesting and/or amusing documentaries in the past few weeks:

Jaco- about jazz great Jaco Pastorious, really tragic tale

The Rockafire Explosion - it's about that crazy robotic animated music show that used to play at showbiz pizza in the 80's and the fan club that has developed around it, really odd, and yet charming as well

I am Thor- about a former power metal singer and bodybuilder who decided to make a comeback. it's like The Story of Anvil but not as pathetic and sad, this guy gets that he's kind of a joke.
