Not me, give me easy wins, blowouts and no stress in the division. But i'm sure we'll have a tough stretch at some point.

To put the Braves (and Marlins) in perspective:

In the Marlins last 36 non-Braves games, they are 27-9 and have outscored their opponents 191-121. (5.3-3.4)

Against the Braves they went 0-3 and outscored 9-29 (3-9.7)

In that span the Marlins have only played two other winning teams - the Angels and Blue Jays.

That being said, if the Braves had merely been just above .500 during that span they would be in second place right now.

Marlins offense started off slow but they have been average over the last 30 days. That with a top tier pitching staff has propelled them. Early on they were lucky with the 1 run games but have played really good baseball lately. Who knows if that holds up. I think the Phillies are the better team and have a good chance of taking 2nd in the division.

Mets have won 4 in a row and are now 6.5 GB in the WC race. The NL East is a lot better division than has been shown earlier this season. Luckily the Braves have a good lead. 22-6 vs the East certainly helps

The Mets have been streaky all year.. just the bad streaks are worse than the good streaks. I don't see them in the playoffs this year.

Anything can happen. Look at what the Braves did last year. They were 10.5 out and won the division.

This is where the too many teams comes into play.

The Mets fate is literally in the hands of Verlander and Scherzer. I don't expect them to regain their previous forms. But in the off-chance they do, they will win a lot of games in the 2nd half.

Braves were 10.5 back at the beginning of June. The Braves needed every last game of the season to make up that deficit.

Mets would need to go 50-26 to win 90 games. With how competitive the NL is this year, that may not even be enough.

Off topic from the division/ WC races but was looking at Matt Olson's basic stats from this season vs last season.

Last season he finished with 34 HRs and 103 RBI. If I remember correctly, he had a super hot start, then went missing in action for the next 2-3 months, before coming back towards the final month or so of the season.

This season, he is at 29 HR's and 70 RBI with 3 games to go before the break. He is pacing 54 HRs and 131 RBI. Of course his recent hot streak has helped and he could go MIA again for an extended period of time. But the move to the cleanup spot seems to have really helped him. 70 RBI before the break is a huge number, especially when you consider that most of his at bats have come from the 2 hole in the lineup.

    AA strutting his greatness again.

If Scherzer/Verlander return to form, it's not out of the question for that to happen. The central division is super weak. Currently 2 of the 3 WC spots are held by NL east teams with the Dodgers being the other.

This team doesn't have a 2 hole hitter on the current roster. But I do like Ozzie being in that role right now even if he is not a good OBP guy. The only move I would like to see now is move Murphy to the 3-hole and Ozuna to 5th and Riley to 6th. I could live with Riley and Murph swapping spots if the other is a bit too much for Twit to handle all at once.

They have way too many issues in their bullpen and lineup to sustain a 108 win pace. That’s basically what the Braves have done this year with a far superior roster.
