Well...worst that can happen is a 5-5 road trip on the toughest road trip of the year. No horrible at all.

Phillies will build up a nice lead against us unless we go on a big winning streak. They have a very easy schedule, even the pitching match-ups are easy. Tomorrow they should sweep facing another bad pitcher, then they get the Mets and Baltimore again. They won't go away and we will be playing catch up after this next week if we don't put up a nice winning streak. But with a good manager we'd still be in first place.

Given their weak schedule, unfortunately it won't be anytime soon.

They actually aren't as interested in Machado anymore but while regression will probably hit them without a major addition, it's not going to be anytime soon. There's no rewards or care for anything this early, but given them actually taking advantage of weaker teams, they deserve 1st place right now. Braves really truly will need to take advantage of August down the road. It's all on themselves that this is not a team in 1st place right now.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

What pieces are those, because one of their beat writers said they're not looking at Machado.

Been reported Dodgers have best offer out there for Machado.

I dont see what they can give up thats an elite offer without hurting their MLB team, because other than Sanchez, their farm is kinda meh.

Didn't get to watch the game, I saw Freeman had a decent day at the plate. Did it look like he was trying or pitcher gifted him balls over the plate?

Still going through the motions. If he had been trying he would’ve gotten the cycle.

This was a big win. 5-4 road trip so far, so worst case is we finish this 5-5. Great job, Sanchez

The Braves are apparently among seven teams to make an offer for Machado.

I looked up their remaining schedule and it is insane how easy it is the rest of the way.

Especially if they get him and allow him to play shortstop. That would severely limit his upside. If he plays 3rd he could probably add 3-3.5 wins over the next few months for them. At SS, I think it would be more like 1.5-2 and that is only if he keeps hitting like a god.

3.1 fWAR in 86 games at SS so far

Phillies have 0.4 war as a team at SS so far. So a trade now improves their team by 2.5 wins at best imo.

I dont expect the Phillies to continue to play at the pace they have so far the rest of the way. So that move might get them even with the braves.
