That took you what, a month? That you will never get back...
I realize I don't have to defend my project, but on the 50th anniversary of the first team in Atlanta, and the year I began following baseball, I thought it might be a cool idea to tell some of the stories (with never-before-seen photos in many cases) about that team that johnny-come-latelys had no clue about. It took a lot longer than a month, BTW, and I'd do it again.
Feel free to call me out on something I'm proud of anytime.

I will defend it too because I enjoyed reading the player bios.

I've never seen a team voluntarily trade away as much young talent as the Braves have in the past 12 months.

    Heyward (25 when traded), 2015 fWAR = 6
Justin Upton (27), 2015 fWAR = 3.6 (4 the year before we traded him)
Evan Gattis (28), 2015 fWAR = 0 (2.2 the year before we traded him)
Craig Kimbrel (26), 2015 fWAR = 1.5 (2.2 the year before we traded him)
    Alex Wood (24), 2015 fWAR = 2.6
Jose Peraza (21), consensus top 40 prospect
    Andrelton Simmons (26), 2015 fWAR = 3.2

Just unbelievable amount of talent, youth, and production that was shipped away within 12 months. Never seen anything like it

Where's the other half of this chart? You know, the one with all the talent and youth acquired for the guys above.

Seems to me the only guy the Braves traded who really made a difference for new team was Jonny Gomes.

I chuckled, so not a complete waste. lighten up. there is sticker shock on this trade. you trade a potential all time great for two pitching prospect and a one year rental can be hard to swallow. I trust there is a greater plan in the works..

Well with the cash going from the Angels to the braves we are not adding additional payroll this year right?

Also this trade frees up another $8.2 mil for next season....not that it means anything

That angels forum is just as hilarious as this one. Seriously funniest posts ever. They said it's the worst trade in franchise history. FOR THEM! I'm still reading. I wanna bytch and laugh all at once. They are pissed at Newcomb being gone.

That's not the point. We BETTER have gotten a ton of talent for them (and I'd argue we haven't gotten nearly enough... only 1 top prospect (Newcomb), Shelby who we are wasting while we suck, and the old crippled guy who can't play the position we acquired him for.

The point was... I've never seen a team voluntarily trade away so much young, proven talent in my entire professional sports watching life.

What gives you any positive inkling that there is a greater plan in place? The front office hasn't given any idea the last year that they deserve their jobs.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

It pretty much depends if Albies is the real deal. If he is, and Newcomb is legit good deal, if not oof.

    Article was fair.

I do want to see the braves Brain trust have a news conference and explain to the city of Atlanta what has happened over the past 2 off seasons. They owe us that at least.

Don't ask us to spend a dime on the team when you trade all major players. Don't try to hype the new stadium as the magic year we compete

I am only reading this thread because F4 is still downloading, and I'm begrudging every kilobyte of bandwidth that I'm consuming while trying to make myself feel better about this deal.

This is the kind of trade that is not a bad one in reality for the Braves but it sucks...if that makes sense.

It's just tough to continue losing cornerstones for unknowns who won't be up immediately. There is a plan in place, and this offseason looks like it will likely be at least as volatile as the last one for us.

I hate losing Simmons, so emotionally I don't like the trade right now. But I do understand it from the Braves' perspective, and there's certainly a chance it helps us. If we're not truly going to compete this year or in 2017, which is likely, then Simmons provides a good option to trade because of Albies' presence in the system and the years remaining on Simmons' contract for a decent price. And the return is good; I would have liked more, but if both sides are unhappy, the value was probably at least pretty even.

My biggest issue, though, is that the front office isn't explaining any of this to the fan base. They can't just keep trading the most identifiable players without any warning or explanation and not expect some serious backlash eventually. They're playing with fire in that respect.
