Moscow Mitch up 9 in latest poll. Very disappointing but kind of expected given Democrats nominated a Trump supporter to run against him. One of the dumbest things I have ever seen in politics.

Let me be clear: I will not vote to pack the courts & I will not vote to end the filibuster. The U.S. Senate is the most deliberative body in the world. It was made so that we work together in a bipartisan way. If you get rid of the filibuster, there's no reason to have a Senate.

Let me be clear: The Senate was absolutely *not* made that way.
It was designed before there were parties and was meant to function with simple majorities.
The first filibuster didn't even happen until 1837. Even after that, they were still extremely rare for over a century.

Rather than breaking this down by party, it might be interesting to do so by geography. For example, what happens if we show "Senators who belong to States in the Confederacy" versus States outside the same...

Apart from Virginia (and perhaps Georgia come January, fingers crossed), that's a distinction without a difference. Literally every senator from a Confederate state is a Republican (except just-voted-out Doug Jones, who was an anomaly to begin with).

That might be true if you look at the last 30 years. If you go back 50+ years, you'll see that the filibuster was primarily used by South Democrats trying to block civil right's legislation. This is best understood as a tool that Southern's use, not Republicans or Democrats

The House is expected to pass a marijuana decriminalization bill in December. Grim Reaper McConnel has never let any pro-legalization bill come to a vote in the Senate. I have no expectations he will change but this could easily be done by Biden as am executive order. I doubt we will hear anything about this from Biden nkw that he has won. When McConnel refuses to allow a vote Biden will ignore the issue and when the press asks him about it he will blame Moscow Mitch for something Biden could do at anytime after January 20th. If it ain't done by midterms they deserve to lose massively. There is no more bipartisan issue than legalization.
