Venters was definitely the exception rather than the rule... he was also a reliever and it's not like he lasted that long after.

Maybe Ohtani doesn't want to play in that circus? Of those given teams and his preference for winning I'd say the Dodgers are the favorites followed by the Braves which is hard to even believe.

Dodgers just seem like the logical choice of 1) tons of money 2) winning 3) same location as Angels

NYY isn't a circus so much as Cashman is a bad GM and the young Steinbrenner is a penny pincher.

I think it's really down to the Dodgers and Giants.

NY is a media circus and Ohtani is a notoriously private person.

I would **** myself if we actually signed Ohtani. It won't happen though.

As did EOF. Kimbrel had a chance to, unfortunately he’s a bitch.

I disagree. If he had taken shots at the Mariners, that would be unprofessional. Holding his tongue shows maturity.

And that's not counting how many times Venters was warming up in the bullpen. It seemed like every night.

The White Sox are poorly run (or at least they were). Gonzalez makes absolutely no sense for a team in total rebuild mode unless he's sweetener on the tail end of the deal. I think the Rays are probably a more likely destination in a Glasnow deal.

I imagine Kelenic and others are pissed that the front office essentially quit on the team at the deadline. Whether anyone else thinks trading Sewald was a legitimate decision, they probably thought they still had a chance and they wound up just missing the playoffs.

The White Sox haven't always made the most sense even though I understand they have different people running things now. I'm pretty much 100% sure he's a sweetener or just an "OK, we'll take him on to get this particular prospect" guy if that's the team. If he stayed healthy and pitched around a 4.20 ERA, they could probably get something decent in return for him at the deadline.

I'm not sure Tampa Bay would want to pay him anything so we'd basically have to give him to them.
