Gwynn wasn’t a power hitter but striking out less than 200 times in a decade is unbelievable. He was such a great hitter to get to watch.

The best compliment one can get as a hitter is the greatest pitcher of our generation saying he’s the greatest hitter he ever faced.
If Maddox said that about him then nobody should question his credentials.

Watched the cards highlights and what a class move by their manager to pull wano/neck tattoo/Albert all the same time so they could get their ovation from the crowd.

Much rather play the Phillies and pass on facing Goldy and Arenado. Bryce has been ice cold since coming off the DL. And the Phillies have a terrible defense.

We owe the Cardinals a beat down in the playoffs. Phillies seem more better suited for a short series with Wheeler and Nola.

Pujols passes Ruth for second most RBI in history. Hell of an end to an amazing career.

Was just about to post this. Really hate that we gave up on him for practically nothing as he would look really nice in LF right now. K rate still high, but his BB rate is over 11%, so it evens out a bit. He has looked really ugly on some of those k's though.

While his current line isn't sustainable, he only needs to OPS around .700-.750 to be valuable with his defense and base running. Surprisingly, he hasn't attempted a stolen base yet.

Hard to believe Pujols is gonna put up over 2 bWAR this year. Wish he would reconsider and go for the record. He could easily get there in 3-4 years, imo. Especially if plays primarily against LHP.

It sucks that our greatest records are so tarnished by roids that half of the fans and sports writers still can't agree on what the real records should be. Pujols could change that.

Pujols should think about 2-3 extra MVP's he was robbed by a roided up Bonds as motivation to to get the real record.

A couple other notes on guys we traded away:

Langeliers with a .225/.259/.442 slash line through 38 games in the majors. Obviously too early to judge anyone on, but I'm very happy we were able to capitalize at the height of his trade value. Catchers rarely turn out to be franchise changing players. And we kept the better catcher in Contreras anyways.

Pache had a rough year all around. I'll always pull hard for him because he's a great kid, but he needs to make some big adjustments to be a major league player. Funny how everyone thought it was Waters that had the worse offensive approach and Waters is the one excelling thus far.

Cusick posted an ERA of 7.95 across multiple levels. Seems like we sold high here as well.

Estes had a medicore season, but didn't do much to deter his mid tier prospect status.

I notice pache is referred to as a "great kid" here a lot. Is this from personal experience? M-Braves people I know say he's a total douche

ETA... the M-braves people I'm referring to are guys that attend a bunch of games, not people actually affiliated with the team

I like Waters more that most. I loved the tools and as you mentioned, the defense in LF raised the floor. Plus I've disliked our LF options for years.

I'm not sold. Shocked the walk rate is that high given his aggregate data. That K rate is not sustainable. I think he's going to take a hard fall.

    Hope the draft works out.

    Thanks for putting it together.

The bigger bags may make Langeliers' arm more valuable if the running game picks up. I think he's going to be good, but i don't think he's an impact bat. I do think he can be a 750 OPS with elite defense and that is a very valuable player.
