That reads like sarcasm. Seems to me that Renteria was MVP of the 2010 World Series for SF, unless they rescended for some reason. But I'll accept that Aybar would be better seen as somewhere between Gonzalez and Renteria, but his defense does not suck. Since the Braves figure to have something besides the statue-like Olivera at third, I am very comfortable with the defensive aspect of this.

That's pretty much how I see it.

There is no doubt we now have a very strong group of pitching prospects. I like the ones we've drafted (Allard, Soroka, Sims and a couple other under-the-radar types) quite a bit. Among the ones we've traded for, Wisler and Newcomb are the ones I like (with Gant being the best of the sleeper candidates).

Lucas Sims is very close to being a big league pitcher, so we're growing some of our own. Allard; I can't wait. He might be better than the bunch.

Wisler has already had a lot of his growing pains. Remember that he won his last three decisions in 2015, capping it with that beauty against the Cardinals.

Saying "Think Edgar Renteria" rather conjures up the guy we saw in Atlanta, who didn't get to much at SS but raked like a madman. Do you think Aybar compares more favorably with prime Edgar or eroded Edgar.

Aybar is fine. He's a perfectly adequate big league SS. I'm a little impatient with hearing him described as more, from Coppy on down.

My question is, is he going to catch ex-Bravesitis if we flip him before he suits up?

I'm a fan of neither him nor his writing style. 2000 words, beating the reader about the head with a simple idea that any fan with half a brain already knows. Acquiring pitching prospects for trades. Ya think??? No humor, irony or unexpected phrases, though plenty of preachiness. Either he reads at a 12 year old level or he thinks his readers do.

I've wondered if this is a precursor move on a play for Javier Baez or Jurickson Profar. Play them at 2B with Jace until Aybar is traded and then move them to SS until Albies is ready.

I would love to grab one of them but not getting my hopes up. I'm very interested in bringing back a former braves prospect in Brandon Drury. Just read a rumor he could be shopped for pitching. Would love to plug him into 3B on opening day next year

Gonna be great when we go back to having a different first baseman every year.
