I think K.C. just added Duda, Jay and Mous for about $12M...combined.
Talk about getting value. Wow.

The Rockies are “close” to reaching a deal to bring back free agent outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, according to Jon Heyman of Fan Rag (via Twitter). If finalized, the deal would be for a one year term, per the report.
I kinda get the feeling that when Moose saw there was no “big” deal out there...he decided to stay home.
I would have liked to have him...sure. He wasn’t taking us to the WS this year lol. I don’t think Camargo is the answer, but let’s play him and see. I don’t think Rio is the answer...let him prove it on the field. These are questions that can be answered this year, so we know what is needed for next year (when it matters). It also show cases a guy like Rio, if you would like to move him in a deal.
I am fine with them not adding long term payroll this year (or at least until the deadline). I think AA has a plan. I am going to enjoy not seeing a bunch of “one year” guys out there this year.

It’s going to be funny when the Braves miss out on Machado and Donaldson, and then sign Mous anyways.

Now watch K.C. sign Seth Smith for $2M and finish with a better record than the Braves.

I think this might be a Boras strategy play. Mous will be 30 for almost the whole 2019 season.
No way KC offers him another QO after this season and risk him accepting at $18M per. By taking this deal he resets his FA for next season without a QO. Sure, there are many others as good or better than him in FA next season. However, many teams appear to be lining up their payrolls to play next offseason which may produce a better market.
I wonder if the deal has a no trade clause attached? Two downsides: 1. He flops in 2018 and his market completely crashes 2. He gets injured and his market crashes.
Weirdest offseason ever
