Didn't finish well, but has done plenty to give us more to be confident about.

Tucker's done all he needed to do by now as well IMO. He's arguably been our best scrap-heap pickup in a while.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

As a rule 5 selective, what do we do with Gomez? Has to stat on active roster for 90 days or go back to Yanks.

90 Days? I thought it was the whole season. Is that new?

Couple fastballs Acuna fouled off in that 3rd AB I bet he wishes he had to do over.

The baby kept me from seeing him pitch much, but what I did see was only 93 on the fastball. Much different than early in ST.

Given how little worried I am about Labies and Acuna, there isn’t a more important player on the team than Swanson. If he rebounds from his miserable first year and lives up to his prospect hype, we have five legitimate All star quality regulars in Acuna, Albies, Freeman, Inciarte, and Freeman. That’s an amazing core that would be under control for a long time.

Besides that, Swanson still is the hometown Georgia suburban kid and we all know that’s the image the Braves wanted with their white flight move.

If he is placed on DL, for any length of time, that time is not counted toward the 90 day minimum. I should have said, "90 days minimum".

    You said Freeman twice, lol.

I don't see him becoming an all star caliber player, but perhaps he becomes a good complimentary player.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Gomez continues the 5th with a lead off HR, then 2 BBs, then is replaced by Barreda

I use the term all star loosely. Generally I view anyone capable of a 4 WAR season as all star caliber. Dansby, if he cuts down on the errors, is a good defender and he provides good base running value, so it really is up to his offensive ability. He’s shown the ability to draw walks, so that also helps.

For me, it comes down to his power. If he’s merely a singles hitter like he was last year then I don’t think he’s anything more than 2 WAR guy. He seems like the type of guy that would really benefit from a hitting coach that really worked with him on his launch angle.

Ouch. He was intriguing early in ST.

Swanson probably needs to make consistent hard contact vs breaking balls before he worries about altering his launch angle.

I guess Gomez would prefer to pitch in the Yankees' minor league system. Maybe he's got a steady squeeze in Scranton or Wilkes-Barre.

Never played baseball growing up, so hitting mechanics aren’t really my area of expertise, so I’ll defer to you on that one.

On a more general level, I think there are more success outcomes where Dansby is a .260/.350/.400 hitter rather than a .300/.390/.390 guy. Not to suggest I wouldn’t take the latter over the former, just that I think the former is a more likely outcome. I feel at times previous Braves administrations really pushed their guys to be high average singles hitters to their detriment (think Simmons).

When he first started making adjustments he lost what power he had even when he hit well in August last year. Was too worried about the slider so he overcompensated.
There was an article earlier that was very interesting, saying that the new things he's doing to work on his swing can conceivably help him have a power breakout if it works, comparing it to what Cozart did (even though he used to play in that ridiculous smallpark). But still, he needs to figure out what to do against breaking balls. I think he rebounds some this year but still has issues against breaking balls, which means a .240-.260 average.
