Wish we traded for Baez when we had the chance.

Which was when? Or do you mean when other people were speculating trade deals and throwing Baez out there because the Cubs seemingly had a surplus of middle infielders. Maybe Baez was available at some point but since he has taken over 2b there was no chance he would be traded. He is crazy good at making the the tag at 2b. Second only to Andrelton.

Albies is pretty slick up the middle. When he comes up next year people will be drooling. Baez would play 3b for us. But I admit, that dude is legit.

There aren't more than a couple players that would make me move Baez off SS. You wouldn't move Baez off SS for Albies.

You mean 2b? Bc he has no shot at SS here.

If we can make a move for Baez, then it's most definitely worth it. I'm thinking we can't pry him away, but we have the prospects to at least try. (It's a dream, I admit)

    Inciarte CF
    Swanson SS
    Freeman 1B
    Kemp LF
    Albies 2B
    Baez 3B
    Flowers/McCann/Wieters C
    Teheran
    M. Smith RF

    That's a damn good lineup.

I'm not sure Baez would be worth it. He was good this year, but most of his value came from his defense, even as a 2B. If we put him at 2B, Albies' value drops off, and if we put him anywhere else, his value very well may drop off.

Of course, he still has untapped offensive potential, but I'm not sure how comfortable I am with giving up legitimate talent to get him on the hopes his offense improves.

My point was if we hypothetically obtained Baez (which we won't), he would be the best defensive SS on the roster.

Any trade for Baez starts with Inciarte. And nobody is ever sticking Mallex in RF.

Baez is getting a lot of hype right now, but he and Inciarte are very close in terms of trade value. The Cubs will need a CFer if they allow Fowler to walk, and I would much rather have Mallex in CF with Baez at 3B for the next 3-4 years than Inciarte in CF, Mallex on the bench, and the **** show platoon of Garcia/Ruiz at 3B.

The rationale being downgrade CF by 1-2 WAR while upgrading 3B by 2-3 WAR.

If the IF ends up Baez, Swanson, Albies, Freeman...I don't give a **** how they line them up.

I have been on the Baez bandwagon since 2015. But, he would make me feel much better if he would learn to take a walk.

I dont think the Cubs trade Baez.

Maddon loves him and he's Zobrist's long-term replacement.

Hell of a comeback for the Cubs though, thank god SF is gone, tired of it's stupid lucky bull****.

Glad SF/Bos is out so i can enjoy the playoffs now.

Yeah Baez would definitely cost Inciarte. I'd almost rather Inciarte bc CF is more importantly defensive wise than 3b imo.

To be fair, that's a pretty good lineup even with an Adonis/Ruiz platoon at third and minus Baez.

    I'd take the Nats.

If i was LA, i would have gone Urias or Hill in Game 4.

Having Kershaw for Game 5 to matchup with Scherzer.

I just don't see getting Baez without giving up one of Inciarte or Smith (with it being more likely Inciarte is the guy who would have to be included).

You may be able to go:

    2B Albies
    SS Swanson
    1B Freeman
    LF Kemp
RF Beltran (signed as a FA)
    3B Baez
    C McCann/Flowers
    CF Smith
    P Teheran

Maybe get McCann with a Markakis/Newcomb for McCann/Frazier trade with Frazier being penciled in for RF long term after Beltran.
