The walls are closing in. Parnas has flipped

Wonder what else we'll be finding out from Mr. Parnas.

Nikki Haley's political chess move on Trump

Her comments are fairly absurd, but it's clear she is trying to inject herself into the fray.

"I think the biggest thing that bothers me is the American people should decide this," Haley said. "Why do we have a bunch of people in Congress making this decision?"

    1. Because the impeachment process is written in the friggin Constitution.
    2. Actually, the American people will decide this as both the Dems and the GOP follow public opinion closer than witness testimony.

Democrats have a nuclear option but it requires 3 Republican Senators to flip. With all Democrat Senators and 3 Republicans they can change it to a secret vote. There are 5 retiring Republican Senators who dont have to worry about committing political suicide. The nut jobs on the right would have a field day with a secret vote. Might really lead to some violence.

I stay out of all of this for a variety of reasons, but it is interesting how some people pick-and-choose when it comes to the Constitution (both sides do it, so don't anyone try to tar me with the partisan brush). In another thread, someone (striker42, I believe) wrote about Graham's political calculations. Must be something in the South Carolina water, because I see the same thing with Haley in this instance. The political factors that produced Trump will outlast him (impeachment or not) and Haley is likely positioning herself for the future. Nothing really wrong with that, but she needs to give a better argument than what she's put out here. By her logic, we should just have a national referendum on everything.

Yes, it is interesting that you haven't heard anyone in the GOP bringing up the Constitution on this matter.

    Again,

    1. Impeachment is the Constitutional answer to a President hijacking public funds to commit bribery.

    2. Public opinion is still very much a player.

If the Dems can't make a convincing case for removal, even convincing to the flat-earther MAGA crowd, then he should not be removed, no matter his crimes. That's how it's set up to work and it seems fair to me.

The problem here is not so much that the Democrats need to provide

evidence of abuse of power and criminality (they’ve already done so),

but that select members of the press will be judging their efforts

through superficial and very much subjective metrics like “big moment.”

Right, Trump had no legal right to withhold aid Congress appropriated for Ukraine. So that's a crime. Congress had already required the new Predisident to address corruption and were satisfied with what he had done do far. So Trump being concerned about corruption has no basis in reality. If there was a time for him to say something it would have been before Congreds granted the aid. Asking a foreign leader to open an investigation into a political rival for political gain is a crime. That's essentially what he was accused of with Russia but he sort of got away with it because there was no direct contact between Trump and Putin. Withholding the aid to leverage Ukraine into opening a politically motivated investigation is also a crime, called extortion. Using foreign aid as a carrot to get Ukraine to open a politically motiavated investigation is also a crime, called bribery. Soliciting a foreign leader to interfere in the 2020 election by smearing a top political rival is also a crime, conspiracy or something not 100% on the technical crime. Add all of these up and you get a Super Mega Ultra Crime.

On top of all of that ordering witnesses not to testify to cover up a crime is obstruction of justice. His threatening campaign against the whistleblower is witness tampering and retaliation.

Hahaha....Coup is still in full swing.

What an embarrassment that policy disagreements from the deep state start impeachment discussions. Y'all should be embarassed of yourselves.

    Policy disagreements? Ha

What happened was an abuse of office in which chosen one attempted to strongarm Ukraine into participating in a disinformation campaign whose target was the American voter.

There is some new stuff (based on a recent information provided by a member of his staff) in there that makes it even more compelling.

Hmm... was funding withheld? Did investigations happen?

Have to find out how corrupt obama administration was. We are finding out more and more every day that they were. I know y ou u dont want it investigated because then it makes your last three years of research irrelevant and you may, just may have to admit a simpleton like me knew what you didnt.

Funny thing about opening statement....they usually get picked apart upon questioning and crumble.

Wow, Ambassador Taylor's testimony is about as bad as it gets for Trump.
