Anthopoulos said #Braves, looking to add a big bat, are exploring various trades and free agent possibilities, but that "We're not close to doing anything and I can't tell you we'll get to a deal we're comfortable with" during the offseason.
That’s him trying not to sound desperate. Everybody knows what we need and so does AA. He’ll get it, it’s just what will it cost and who.

Sure would like to see a second bat at 3B.

Brian Anderson would be a good fit as two others mentioned.
I'd be ok with Ozuna, he had a great year and a fluky/bad BABIP. His defense is a bit ehhhh, but he can hit, very very well.

    I'd assume he'd take at least a 4 year deal, perhaps 5.

    This.

I never said anything about it being a "good trade". You guys are in such a hurry to pounce on people you read things into their posts.

Moreno obviously sold Trout on the idea that IF he'd take Arte's $425 million that he'd keep spending and trading whomever he needed to until he got Trout into the playoffs. There's simply not enough talent left on the board to do that now by simply writing checks, and there aren't many better options potentially available next winter that will get you any closer.

Would it make sense to wait until next year to try to sign Turner to a market-value deal rather than giving Donaldson $100 million now? Sure. Can you guarantee me that either of those guys is healthy next December?

Nobody's arguing about a single one of the precious projections and the irrefutable math that surrounds them. The question is, y'all understand that even Trout is subject to regression too, right??? He'll be 29 this time next winter - exactly how much longer do those models have him providing this level of production? Is he somehow the first player that's immune to the aging curve? Y'all realize he's going to be the same age as Madison Bumgarner this time next winter, right? Remind us exactly how y'all feel about him again. Trout hasn't played more than 140 games since 2016 - is that mysteriously going to change?

If they expect to contend while realistically expecting him to perform at this level - based on every model the numbers community crows about - they need to start surrounding him with a lot better talent, AND SOON (not 3 or 4 years from now when he's Donaldson's age).
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Trouts numbers playing 140 games are better than like 99% of big leaguers who play 160.

JD will go soon after. Like when Strasburg went Cole quickly followed.

If Rendon is going to LAA. Who is in on JD? Nats probably/maybe, MAYBE Texas, Philly's out, Minny?, maybe Dodgers, and Braves supposedly.

    Of course you do.

They are - no doubt. Will they continue to be when he's 30? 31?

If they will be, why is everyone worried about paying Donaldson for the next 4 years? He played 155 games last season after all.

Trout's oWAR was 8.3JD's was 4.7.Angels have a DH spot if Trout becomes an injury risk. We don't have that luxury.

Do we have a model that guarantees that Trout will provide 8.3 oWAR as a DH 4 years from now when he's Donaldson's age? Then wouldn't it be a pretty good idea to go get talent while he's still putting up that level of production? Donaldson's 4.7 last season was pretty amazing, right? Who expects that out of him again in 2020?

He’s making 32 million a year and they’d want a haul to deal him. I’d rather just give Rendon the money and save the prospects.
