    2012 - Average. .814 OPS (13th out of 30 in OPS for qual RF's)
    2013 - Well below average .570 OPS (32 out of 39 qual RF's)

So he has 1 well above average, 1 well below average and 1 average and is on the road to another well below average.
.776 OPS in 2013, .570 is for the three weeks of this year.

Meh, it's like chicken or the egg at this point.
I think things like what happened in the playoffs get people maybe a little too upset, but it's still something that seems so simple to some people. No one is saying any one manager never makes questionable calls or that we'd go 162-0 with board democracy management, but saying he makes bone-headed decisions is not outrageous.

All the negativity! I came here to get away from it. We are all brothers in the Braves lol. We just won off of a walk-off homer. Come on, that's awesome!

on the positive side: BJ has impressed me with his eye, it's great to see. Gattis can hit, well... Simmons is a beast, Kimbrel is just rusty, Teheran is our Ace (IMO) and Freddie needs to break out of this funk!

Also, Dan is driving me insane. Gotta fix this somehow. Maybe give him a day off for Pena tomorrow.

I noticed that and fixed original post. .776 was good for 17th out of 29 in 2013.

I think as a whole, the board needs to not get so worked up when the team struggles. Even if we lose 4 straight..teams do that. Good teams do that at times. It happens to everyone. We're going to struggle and look bad at the plate, at times for stretches. There will be stretches when 3-4 starters in a row struggle and we lose. Overall, we're a good team that should win 90+ games.

Only thing i'll say on Fredi is it seems after EVERY loss or even wins, it seems like all Fredi is an idiot.

    His fault we lose.

You win 60, you lose 60, the other 42 are what count.

I actually like Fredi and think he's the perfect manager for the Braves. He may not sound like a genius in interviews but he's not supposed to. He's bi-lingual and has risen to the top of his profession in a country he wasn't born in. That in itself it pretty awesome. People who think he's dumb are dumb.

Again, simply using OPS is not very telling. You're ignoring a lot of factors as well, like some freak injuries.
You said he was a well-below average hitter and that has not been true at any point.

My sentiments exactly. I get as frustrated as everyone else. I don't love all of the calls by Fredi and I get frustrated on the lack of fundamentals by this team; a team that's very good by the way. But, it happens. Loses happen, wins happen and dang it, we will have more wins by the time the season is over. Fredi struggled, Dan Uggla'd all over the field and Kimbrel wasn't himself yet we won. Count your blessings and move on. Let's win the series tomorrow!

So he has 1 well above average, 1 well below average and 2 average and is on the road to another well below average.
First of all you should look at the leagues entire OPS by that position and not just who qualified.

2010 NL RF: 778 OPS vs 849 for Heyward
2011 NL RF: 794 OPS vs 708 for Heyward
2012 NL RF: 769 OPS vs 814 for Heyward
2013 NL RF: 777 OPS vs 776 for Heyward
2014: who cares because the season is 3 weeks old

So I would categorize that as two above average years, 1 below average, and 1 average year. And that's just when comparing him to people who play right and using OPS which is a flawed offensive statistic. WOBA and it's derivative WRC+ are much much better. And also I think the original comment is that Heyward is a well below average hitter. That is false even when comparing him to other RFs (and Heyward is arguably the best base runner and defender of all RFs btw) and even more so when comparing him to the league as a whole.

So why not shorten the regular series to 42 games?

I am going to save my negative feelings and unleash them if we fail to win a playoff series.

Being injured in 2 of his 4 completed seasons should not be used as an excuse. There are many examples of good baseball players that just couldn't stay healthy.

And you said he had 3 outta 4 above average seasons. Whats your point?

That's a little too stalkerish for me. That's even worse than my attempt to find Mike Adams and get Heyward to join the board.

In Heyward's case they've been freak injuries.

The appendectomy and broken jaw HBP last year. The thumb injury in 2011 was really bad.
