    Yeah, I'm just not sure we'll ever know unless we give him a legit shot and extended playing time. No time better than now, IMO.

    Bethancourt likely catches more than half the games after the September call-ups and while it's difficult to judge on September performance, I think the Braves will be able to discern if he is improving in the mental/preparation part of the game from greater exposure.

    Catchers get hurt a lot. At some point, every backup gets a shot to show what he's got. Gattis got his shot because McCann was out for a while in 2013 recovering from the shoulder operation.

    I think it takes more than a month, especially as a September call-up, to see what a player's got. I just hope that we don't give up on him. Even if he ends up being a backup catcher, there is value in that.
