The Yankees always draw. Things like new stadiums don't matter when you live in a population center like them. The braves would need to offer free tickets to get on level plying field. This expectation of attendence figures is silly. Atlanta is not going to draw massive numbers ever. What they do have is a complex to generate more revenues. This is along term plan. Cobb county is increasing in population and by further developing this area the idea is to attract more families which will result in more atrendence.

the Braves supposed goal of 3m fans this season will require 37K average per game.

    Will be tough.

Not a great sign that the 4th game already in the low 20s, but maybe spring break has something to do with it.

There is just no way they draw 3M fans. The only way that is possible is that hey are 10 games over 500 in September which is highly unlikely.

I was seeing signs from Dansby last night that he might be starting to break out of his slump. He hit several balls hard with nothing to show for it and also fouled a lot of pitches hard straight back. When you see a guy fouling pitches straight back like that, it means they barely missed it. So Dansby is hopefully getting close to starting to spray line drives around the field.

Yeah, 3 million is a pipe dream. However, I could easily see there being a sustained and significant increase in attendance over Turner Field.

I generally think less people go to games as a whole because TV's and easy access..

Suntrust will need to marinate a bit and fans will come back. The only thing I would be concerned with is the prices I am hearing. If things are that expensive, it might keep some fans away as well.
MLB averaged over 30K people per game last year. It did drop from 2016 but still really good. The highest avg per game was in 2007 before the recession. So the game is still recovering just like the economy in that regard but people are going to games.

Exactly and as Cobb country continues to grow in size the attendence will gradually increase.

Two things bring people to the ballpark. A new stadium and winning. That being said it was pretty pathetic that the Braves couldn't even crack the top half of the league in attendance even when they were winning in the past 15 years. Hopefully the relocation will change that.

I think the fanbase got spoiled from the division streak. I was 7 in 91, I almost finished college before I knew what it was like to see the Braves miss the playoffs.

let's squeeze every f'ing dollar possible out of the people who want to go to a game. a game and that comes with it at the new park will cost a family a small fortune to attend.

meanwhile, bj upton gets tens of millions of dollars. obscene and f the braves. more revenue for the owners, less money for the fans. same old story. but yeah, they needed this stadium to sit just as empty but in a much less responsible manner by essentially forcing more cars on the highways and into traffic. go braves.

other things that bring people to the stadium include reliable and convenient public transportation and access. most of the best attended stadiums around the country have that. the braves never will. yall are dreaming if you think attendance will gradually increase over the years. four games into this new stadium and they're already at embarrassing lows. the braves may make a fortune off this deal, but it won't come from some great increase in tickets purchased.

i predict a new downtown stadium in 15-20 years.

Minneapolis/St. Paul has two light rail lines. The new Twins' stadium has a light rail station right next to it that connects to both of the light rail lines. New Vikings' stadium is on one of the lines (to which one can get an easy connection from the other line). Gopher football stadium is one block off one of the light rail lines. New soccer stadium being built will also be one block off one of the light rail lines. Makes for extremely easy access to any of the venues.

Is it just me or does it seem like this team goes as Ender goes? If he's not hitting they don't win. If he's hitting they win.

I know a lot of people would have preferred Pollock to Ender...does that still hold true?

On pure talent? Pollock is an all-star CF. Ender is a good player. On being the best fit for Atlanta? That's up in the air. They got Ender to extend at a great price. Pollock could of been gone after next year right when the team is ready to contend.

The problem is, I think we would have ONLY gotten Pollock. Like thewupk said, he was already an absolute superstar. Ender was thought of as more of a platoon guy who has turned into a much better player offensively than originally projected (ala Prado) which allowed us to also get Swanson and Blair.
