I think the issue for the Marlins are the Volquez and Chen contracts. They take up such a big part of payroll that it makes sense for them to move anyone there is a decent market for exchange for future assets. Royals are in a similar situation with respect to the Gordon and Kennedy contracts.
"I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."
"I am your retribution."
Cashman apparently talking to Frazier's people about a return.
Cross him off the list. Do Angels get Moose now?
Prado and Yelich would seem to make all the sense in the world now, but at what cost??? Might they bite on Allard, Anderson, Wentz, and Pache??? If they would, Riley replaces Prado when he's ready and we keep Wright and Soroka.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

If Cardinals work out a deal to get Ozuna from #Marlins, got to think it would really help #Braves' chances of getting Yelich if they want him bad enough and are willing to part with prospects. It will undoubtedly require some legit top prospects to get him, and he's worth it.
Not sure what it would cost to land him.
I think Wright, Acuna, Albies are off limits.
Would you part with Soroka?
Soroka, Anderson, Pache, and say, Touki or would it cost someone like Wentz also?
Would certainly leave a dent in the Braves farm but he'd be well worth it, given his team-friendly deal.

#Braves GM Anthopoulos said no deals were close, but at least they have chance to "explore a little more" on some discussions today, so they've progressed a little with some things since Monday.
Is it me or does it feel like a deal for Yelich could actually happen?
The two teams definitely match up well. I do see a big potential issue of AA being hesitant to trade prospects before he gets a chance to fully get a feel for them. The Fish will want us to back the truck up for Yelich (rightly so) and I can see AA not feeling comfortable doing that.
Im not sure AA trades prospects that he doesnt know alot about yet, but Yelich is worth it.
Having Yelich, Ender, Acuna in the same outfield would be up there the best outfields in baseball.
If there's someone worth doing it for, it's him. Yelich is a terrific player on a great contract.
I'd include Soroka only if it's a deal-breaker. Chances are relatively good that you can come up with a solid enough rotation out of Gohara, Teheran, Folty, Newcomb, and Fried to be relevant this season and you add Wright and Allard to the mix in 2019. At that point, you could see about trading Newcomb or Fried if you want another veteran in the rotation.
With Markakis off the books next winter, they could make a play for Andrew Miller to close. I'd actually rather include Wentz instead of Touki in your offer - if they convert Touki this year, a back-end of Miller, Touki, and Minter could be really scary in 2019.

Yelich... gimme gimme gimme.
I’ve been on the Yellich train for awhile now. Getting him would be huge and one of the very few I’d back the truck up for. Allard, Anderson, Pache, and Wentz I think gets it done or really close. We would have maybe the best outfield in baseball and it would be super cheap for a long time also, and it would allow us to spend on Donaldson next offseason to lock the offense down. I think AA really tries to dump Kemp and Markakis asap.
Allard, Anderson, Pache and Wentz is nowhere near enough to get Yelich. It’s ridiculous when folks bundle some guys they don’t mind losing and think that package will get an insanely valuable player in return.
Yelich has upwards of $120M in surplus value. Those 4 guys are a bit over half that.
Approximate value of the Braves prospects not named Albies or Acuna:
Wright $35M
Gohara $35M
Allard $25M
Soroka $25M
Anderson $20M
Fried $20M
Pache $20M
Riley $15M
Wentz $15M
Add them up however you want, but a Yelich trade starts with Wright or Gohara, and then includes another 3-4 guys off that list. Then add a couple filler pieces outside the Braves Top 10. That trade would basically force the Braves window closed within 5-6 years. In fact, they may not even be interested if Acuna isn’t in the deal.
The Braves best chance at acquiring Yelich almost certainly involves taking bad contracts to bring that surplus value down a bit (or a lot).
