This is a direct result of pitchers not being able to throw too far inside at hitters anymore. This isn't about a huge influx of Latin guys or any showboating on their (or anyone of any race's) part. It's about there being no consequences for showboating. The game has changed a lot and the showboating doesn't bother me that much, but if Puig had ever shown up Bob Gibson or Don Drysdale, he would have been advised to wear a suit of armor in his next AB.

That's the thing, we don't know who the PTBNL is yet and it may be he's a good solid prospect. I haven't heard anyone ask about that nor did Coppy tell us himself.

Eh, they might as well just go ahead and wear their coffin and get it over with.

Bud with a great LAD debut last night: 6 scoreless, 2H, 1 BB, 8K. Only 88 pitches.

But why commit that much money to a 4th OF'er with no upside? You can easily get a 4th OF from within the system and pay them the MLB minimum?

Just hoping the PTBNL isn't anything valuable from our current draft, that we just can't announce yet.

That doesn't make any sense... giving up a valuable piece just to basically unload Norris (who actually had real value) and Toscano? I don't think you guys have to worry... its likely someone injured... my guess is Ogando.

It can't be a draftee and given the return likely won't be too valuable.

I thought it CAN be a draftee as long as it's announced next year

I'm pretty sure when they changed the rule to state it can't be a draftee until the end of the World Series. When they moved up the timeline, they closed the loophole to state only players that are eligible to be traded can be PTBNL.

The decision to sign Toscano is probably the oddest one made by the new regime. Money would have been better spent buying scratch-off lottery tickets at the Quickee Mart.

Our history with Cubans hasn't been stellar.

I thought Toscano had the same trainer/handler as Pache or Cruz and that signing him helped with our international efforts.

Sort of like what the Red Sox did, except we did it more legitimately

I'm so tired of people defending hitters acting like massive dickheads.

Saying, 'Pitchers don't want any hint of emotion or celebration' is so disingenuous. No one has ever suggested that. No one gets upset when a hitter is happy and celebrates the fact that he hit a HR. But there is an obvious difference between celebration out of happiness and deliberately going for overkill just because you can.

And the argument of, 'If you don't like it, don't give up a HR' is the kind of thing 3rd graders say. 'If you don't like when I toss the Connect 4 board across the room and tell you I'm going to have my way with your mom tonight, then you shouldn't have lost, loser.' I seriously doubt these people would accept a pitcher telling the hitter to 'suck it' and then prancing and stomping all over the batter's box after a strike out and then saying, 'If you don't like me doing it, should have thought about that before you struck out.' There is a difference between being happy and celebrating because of that and just rubbing it in because you're a dick.

There was some brief discussion about the article written about Norris' comments on hitters pimping HRs. Just responding to that.
