Leadoff man gets on against him like 99.9% of the time. Obviously not that high, but seems like it

Mets game ended a few hours after the braves yesterday. Stop making excuses for the braves

McCarthy's era is 5.02 BTW. Think I would put him on the DL and give fried a couple starts

Nah. According to this board, Fried is nothing more than a decent bullpen arm. We have a lot of money invested in McCarthy so no reason to not pitch him.!

Gotta be higher than that doesn't it? It was 5.5 in the 2nd inning according to gamecast.

They just came of a long road trip against really good teams, only to start at home with a double header and a late one at that. They are tired. This is just one of those games. It’s why I hate double headers because one is almost always gonna be a loss. Minter was pitching when....at midnight?? I was trying to stay awake just watching the game. They aren’t machines.

Mets got to Atlanta later than the braves.

No reason to keep throwing McCarthy out there if there is a younger better option. We aren't getting a young piece for him. Just cut your losses from the awful olivera/Kemp deals and move on. Fried could be part of the future.

Yeah and there was some luck in that. Either way...I was going to be surprised if we won both (even though we should have). McCarthy even had a long delay and he’s totally a routine guy. When you are playing the second game of the day (that has a long rain delay at that), not even mentioning coming off a long road trip in which the visiting team arrived before you....some crazy stuff is bound to happen. I’m surprised it wasn’t one of those 15-13 games. With travel, this almost played like a away game for them rest wise.

There are no conclusions that should be made against anyone yesterday....except maybe that I’m a little higher on Charlie than I have been.

It’s basically June and we are in first place....no matter if we stay there or not...wow!! Give them a day to kiss their kids, get laid and sleep in their own beds. The league (as usual), has done us no favors from scheduling. That’s about to change.

I’m all for moving him at the deadline (or even before), if the right deal is there. He is coming of two games in which he pitched well. You don’t just move a guy like that for nothing. All it takes are a couple of injuries. Just think of how many pitchers we have already used.

Right now... Soroka is on the DL, Gohara is still out of shape and can barely go five innings, Sanchez has been hurt, Julio is hit or miss. McCarthy has at least been healthy and has some good starts. I say trade McCarthy and Julio at the deadline if we can get these other guys up and running. That time is not there yet.

Wins and losses don't really matter this year. That'll be the last time for the forsee able future. Thus is the year to get a guy like fried in th rotation to see what you have.

McCarthy is not going to get us a useful piece at the deadline IMO

I'm not ready to give up on McCarthy. He has had some pretty good outings. I just think we should give him a dl stint every now and then.

McCarthy throws 3-4 really solid starts at you going less than 6ip, then gets rocked the next time out. Really skews his era, but most of the time hes pretty good.

McCarty might get us a useful bullpen peice. You can’t say “wins and losses don’t matter this year”, when we are in first place. No, we are probably not contenders. Yes, you give them every chance to prove us wrong as they have already done. Any team can get on a hot streak and any team can slump. If we get in the playoffs anything can happen. We will be young with no expectations compared to say the Nationals with a ton of pressure on them.

Do they need to make a big trade and give up prospects this year...no. Do we need to give the team every chance to win outside of that...yes.
