Was there a game today? Who is Wren, and why does anyone care?
That Albies kid is fun to watch. Reminds me of the energy a young Furcal once brought.

Wren’s problems were people hated him and every time he opened his wallet for a free agent it was a disaster.
He was not good. He was also not banned from baseball bad.
Chris Johnson was really stupid but not Olivera stupid.
Aa is far from perfect. He’s made some win now trades that really scare me for next year. But his record is much better than either guy we keep talking about

Can someone please explain how Albies has either neutral or negative fielding metrics?

Conceptually, all of it, but mostly the ideas that (a) the GM was directly responsible for the playoff losses in those postseasons that the team he built reached (especially since trying to fire the manager responsible for one of those big flameouts didn’t go very well for said GM), and (b) that dude was uniquely responsible for bringing the team to a point where rebuilding was necessitated (especially given reports that said GM had wanted to initiate a retool/rebuild himself early in his tenure, having seen some signs it might be necessary).
But I really shouldn’t be helpng to enable this ongoing discussion—especially since I’m not a massive Wren fan, anyway. I’ve stated before I think his was a C-level tenure, unfortunately followed by an even worse, D- regime. Maybe after a few more months AA will give us more current fodder for debate.
