Mateo, Florial is a fair package along with others.
For just Gray, if it's Gray and Alonso, they'd need to add more.
I will concede this though....
Beane has done a fairly poor job of getting appropriate value when trading parts the last few years. If anyone is going to take 1/2 price for Gray, it will be the A's.
If Beane is willing to sell Gray for half price, I would like to see Coppy take advantage of it, even if it means acquiring him in a losing season.
If the Braves were fighting for a playoff spot, I think Allard plus Gohara plus some parts is fair value for Gray. I would still prefer them to grow pitchers internally, but converting 2 risky prospects into 1 risky, yet proven, MLB starter is a decent move.
However, the Braves are non-contenders. I don't think they should be looking to acquire Gray this year unless the A's are willing to accept something approximating half his current surplus value.

In a non playoff year there's no way I trade Allard and Gohara for a#2 starter.

Last two posts are it. It's context.
The Yankees are a playoff team now and the next two years. They have the resources to keep him.
We are not in it this yr. nxt yr we are likely a fringe team at best. Most likely we would get one year of gray on a good team and his arb number might be 15plus million
Brewers swap Cordell to CWS for RP Swarzak

Re:Yankees and Gray- if they really have made their top three prospects "untouchable" and the deal is centered around Florial/Mateo plus, I think we could definitely beat that without it hurting.
I don't really believe the recent Yankees bluster. It reeks of driving the price up similar to how it went down for Frazier a couple days ago.
Too bad we couldn't get Cordell. I was interested in him from Milwaukee. He should be near MLB ready if he isn't already.
