Right, and I know Kimbrel can be a little wild at times, but he's the best closer in baseball for a reason. So getting "wild, can't get anyone out" Kimbrel and a Simmons error in the same inning to lose?

Reds blew their lead in Houston. I am hoping they win just to make tonight worse for Nats.

Would be great if he can return, key to the team but I'll believe it if it happens.

We need Nats to lose tomorrow and to clinch by winning Friday. I would hate to clinch by a Nats loss Friday or Saturday night long after our game. If that happens we won't get a last out type celebration that is so fun to watch.

Remember Freeman's walk off homer to clinch the Wild Card? That would be even better if it were for a division title. But that can't happen in Chicago of course. So hopefully we'll clinch with a Kimbrel strikeout, that would be good too.

Had to leave after Uggla's HR and just returned. So the team has a pulse after all! Can't wait to watch this game.

Can't wait to hear Davey Johnson, Ian Desmond, and Bryce Harper whining during the entire offseason about how they're better than us.

That pesky 6-13 head to head record says we own their [rear ends].

    Just got home.

First off, C.B. Bucknor is a moron, but you guys know that already. Secondly, great job by the team to rally back after the walk that should've been a strikeout. Really seemed to light a fire under them. Oh, and to the Nats: How did you like the Braves kicking your butts this season!

Guys and girls, our Atlanta Braves are on the brink of their first National League Eastern Division title since 2005. How great does that feel?

MLB Network saying we don't have the starters or top end ones.

I don't really disagree but outside of the Dodgers, all the NL playoff teams have same concerns too.

All I have to say about that. Phillies won the World Series with the rotation of Hamels, Moyer, Blanton and Myers. I think most know the last 3 aren't very special. I'm sure people will run around screaming "But Hamels is an ace" and they're right but from the start of his career until 2008 Hamels was a great pitcher but not an ace in the sense of Kershaw, Waino, etc.

Anywhere here is the ERA+ of those Phillies starters. 141 117 96 104 Hamels is obviously the high one. Our 4 this year 121 117 123 113(doesn't include tonight for Wood but his ERA didn't go up) . Now yes Hamels was better than any of our guys but not by too much, basically you stack them in order and our 4 are as strong as them. What the Phillies had going for them though, was guys turned it on come October, and that's what really matters. Wood could go bananas and throw 7 inning shutouts every game. You don't know. Your pitchers get a handful of starts and even aces have bad starts and even bums have great ones.

I mean quite honestly it'll depend on what version of our pitchers we get. If Medlen continues his recent trend, and Minor and Julio avoid giving up big innings early, it helps us immensely. There's no denying having those big arms at the top helps, aka Dbacks in '01 with Johnson/Schilling. But really other than Kershaw and Wainright, there isn't a sure enough ace type out of the NL.

Greinke is pretty close to being considered an ace. Kershaw and Greinke at 1, 2 is pretty stout. Almost on part with Johnson and Schilling. ALMOST.

Just get in the play-offs. After that, it's all a crapshoot.

It's not a crapshoot, it's still baseball. Just a more pressurized and condensed version.

That was a big win, sports fans.
