Morosi says the Braves were in on Asdrubal Cabrera, who just signed with the Mets.

only two pitchers I find interesting are ..

Chris Devenski—RHP—25—good command.. can miss bats. He was a reliever who was converted to starter in AA.. did well. I bet he gets taken by someone.
    and
Josh Turley—LHP—25—knuckle baller—still in AA but has ok numbers.—article about him

other than that.. Cave (who is a lefty so I don't see them taking him) and T.J. Rivera are the only two hitters I like.. well the big 1B was kind of cool.. Just don't know if there is a fit with anyone in rule 5 this year.
It's sounding like we won't take anyone.

This time last year, we didn't realize there was a Winkler out there either, because most of us didn't know the rules as well as the Braves. I promise you, the Rule 5 is one of the reasons that Kiley McDaniel is now in the Braves camp. We will know more about that group of free agents than any other team.

That must mean they don't have a ton of confidence in Peterson one would think

Seeing as Justin and Heywood dont seem to be in high demand right now I think its the perfect time to execute plan Kenny Lofton and sign them both. Trade Markakis back to the Orioles for whatever we can get and backload however much of the first years salary we need to fit it in the 2016 budget. With all this additional money they project there wont be any big free agents to sign with it next offseason. Buy now while theres something to buy. Pitching should cost us next to nothing for the next few years. The middle infield is going to be cheap for a while.

I do still think it makes sense for us to try to go after Heyward.

But he's apparently looking for 10 years at $30 million per, so if he gets close to that, then we're obviously out, as we should be.

The #Braves have discussed Bartolo Colon. They're looking at short-term SP options who won't block some of their young starters.

Possibly, but have you all seen him? He could block 3 or 4 of our young pitchers whether he's pitching or not.

DOB: I'm told #Braves are likely to take a relief pitcher with 3rd pick in Rule 5 draft

Blash would have been my choice, he may have been a swing and miss (literally with his high K rate) but could have offered significant addition of power to a team that has none to speak of. Who knows if we could have struck gold since he is more seasoned than most available rule 5 players.

I understand the need for an improved lefty reliever if we were planning to contend but why not give that shot to another minor league player?

Never made it to the Mariners players. but looking at this guy.. he is a good player.. not a bad fielder based on stats.. OPS .850+ the last three years. big power.. and his K rate is not as high as some touted prospects out there. wonder if someone picked him up..

Blash was just announced as the PTBNL from the Yonder Alonso deal.
