One of today's roster casualties that I'd like to see the Braves look into is Craig Gentry. Would fit as a RHH platoon partner for Bourn on the cheap. Plus baserunner and plus defender. Last 3 years against LHP: 261 / 348 / 349.

Miller and Jenkins for Baez and Soler. Play Baez at short and Soler in RF.
Trade Markakis to Baltimore for magic pixie dust and Aybar to the top bidder. Add another $17M or so to the $30M available and go sign Price or Greinke and a guy like Latos. Trade Teheran or keep him until the deadline THEN trade him.
Trade Freeman to Houston for Reed, Tucker and JD Davis.
Short term: CF Bourn/M Smith, LF Olivera, RF Soler, 1B Swisher/Reed, C AJ, SS Baez, 2B Petersen
SP: Grienke (my preference but would be ok with Price), Teheran (or Wisler if Teheran is traded), Wisler, Latos, Perez/Weber/Folty/ManBan
Pen: Viz, Krol, Grilli or Winkler, Withrow or Simmons, McKirahan or Marksberry, Cuniff or Burawa
Maybe not but you try to build a deal for that. It might be Shelby, Jenkins and ManBan or something else. I will say that Miller plus Teheran is TOO much.
Personally, I still like Miller to Colorado for Dahl, McMahon and Nunez, but none of those guys are ready today which seems to be important to the Braves (I don't know why).

I'd be halfway interested in taking a shot at Carlos Tocci in the Rule 5 Draft. Alas, we aren't tanking.
According to Shanks we're bringing back Carpenter.
Not if next year was to be their last and final season and opportunity to win. But it's not. Those guys are going to sign 5-7 year deals. If you are competitive on money then you have to sell them on the idea of building a winner for the majority of their contracts and playing in a place where their is great upside with relatively small amounts of downside.
Look, I might be overvaluing these guys. If I were GM, the marketplace would tell me the value because I would be asking.
BUT, the Padres just got Margot, Guerra, Allen and Asuaje for a fairly expensive closer. Margot is listed as the 5th best OF prospect in baseball and #25 overall regardless of position by MLB. Guerra was listed as the 76th best prospect. Allen is a fine looking young lefty who showed out as an 18 yo. And Asuaje is projected to be a serviceable utility guy.
That was an ACTUAL deal. Meaning it was actually done.
Dahl was listed as the 47th best prospect. McMahon #50. Nunez is a catcher who isn't on the top lists. None of those players are players that the Rocks can't move or won't move. McMahon is blocked by Arenando. Dahl is blocked by Blackmon and Dickerson AND is an injury concern. Nunez is blocked by about 4 other catchers.
Miller, as a SP with three years of control left through the 18 season, is AT LEAST as valuable as Kimbrel who is a closer also signed through the 18 season (including option).
Would Colorado do the deal I proposed? Maybe not. But, it's the type deal "Coppy" should be trying to make since the cupboard for fringy pitching has been filled.
I'm hearing the Cubs, Giants, and Dodgers as suitors for Miller, but his value lies in his cost. I wouldn't be surprised to see a small market team jump into the mix. If you're a big market team this is the year to just buy your pitcher.
