The 2 trades I would love to see that would drastically improve this team.
Braves get:
Felipe Vasquez - LHRP
Pirates get:
Kyle Wright - RHSP
Huascar Ynoa - RHRP
William Contreras - C

You know what ? You are right. The parade route would be worth iit. 25 years is too damn long.
That price would just be too steep for me. AA has taken a conservative approach thus far and I'd prefer it if he stayed on that track. I'd love to have Syndergaard and Vazquez, but I'd really prefer not to clean out 5-6 of our top 10 prospects in order to do it. Especially given the fact that we are extremely thin at the lower levels of our farm.
Getting Syndergaard and Vazquez guarantees nothing. At best it might take us from a 7% chance of winning the world series up to a 12-13% chance. They are longer term assets so that is attractive, but I care about that less with pitchers. Especially when we are talking about a reliever and a guy who has made more than 30 starts exactly once in his career.

I get your point. But to me, both of those deals really shorten our contention window. And even with those trades, we're still not going to be clearly better than the Dodgers, or any of the top AL teams. Personally, I'd play it safe this year and roll the dice with who we've got, plus make a couple of smart acquisitions to shore up the bullpen.

Id be fine with that deal for Thor. But what this team needs as much as Thor is another really good outfielder. I don’t know who is available but if they could use their young pitchers sans Anderson for a real bat, that would be ideal.
Sorry, but that's an awful idea. No way is Vazquez worth remotely close to that, and if he was, we should stay far, far away. Brad Hand and Adam Cimber (a rookie reliever having a great year last year) only brought back Francisco Meija, a consensus 60 FV prospect pre-season, but as a catcher who's defense was being questioned, likely was seeing his value decline a bit.
