Serious question, how are the names of these players leaked? Who does any writer know what Hart & other GM's are talking about?

I disagree that it makes no sense.. It makes sense for 2017, when Olivera could still be viewed as a huge asset for the braves at 3b and a middle of the order bat. Beyond 2017 is my concern. What are we really expecting there? I guess the good news is that he will be relatively inexpensive. But this also reeks of desperation. I don't think the Braves should be in desperation mode for 2017 yet. Is Olivera worth the Peraza asset? I am just struggling. The other players mentioned are meh.

Yeah it kinda is. Olivera is 30. How many 30 year old hitters in the MLB right now would you trade Wood for right now?

My sentiments exactly. There is simply no way in hell the reported trade can be anywhere close to accurate. We would be getting hosed in such epic proportions. There is no way Hart is anywhere near as stupid as this trade would make him.

If thats the case Friedman is brilliant and Hart is left playing circle jerk with the johns

Then you don't make the deal if your player is getting devalued because of a possible injury risk. And sometimes there is nothing to understand about a teams rationale. Sometimes the team just ****s up.

It's this simple. When this is done, either John Fart needs to lose his job, or all of these writers need to lose theirs.

If the Mets made this trade, no one questions it. You can say 2017 if you want but you're still assuming Olivera is even good then or good now for that matter.

Then you don't trade him. The answer is not to simply allow the other team to devalue all your assets. If we are stuck with Wood through 2019 and Peraza, that's a pretty good consolation prize for not being able to get a deal done.

Getting rid of both for Olivera and little else is just stupid. The D-Backs were stupid when they traded Touki, and this would be stupid.

You don't have to evaluate everything with a 'Our FO would never make a bad deal, so let me find out how this is good' lens. Sometimes it's just a bad, stupid deal.

Im definitely far from the highest on Peraza here. I like him but have my doubts about him offensively. I could deal with Wood for Olivera....don't agree but understand if they feel that strongly about his bat. But in no way does Peraza, Johnson, AND avilan fit in this. Should have been wood for olivera.

What woudl we have said if the Braves traded Beachy for Cain many years back? Same thing with JJ or Hanson. These pitchers are fickle and I think Teherans struggles are making the Braves think to flip these pitchers at a high point.

He probably didn't even manage to turn it on. Poor guy. I would feel bad for him if he wasn't behind the wheel of my favorite car playing RACE CAR MAN with one thumb in his mouth and the other in Hart's butt. Sometimes, when he takes a sharp turn, he has to switch thumbs.
