    Post Office to Default Again

Post Office is is defaulting on retirement accounts for a 5th straight year.

They lost $2.1B in the previous 3 months.

Weird that I don't see Fedex and UPS posting losses like this

As more and more people call for the government to run more things, I think it's appropriate to offer reminders of what that leads to

It doesn't matter how many examples you give of failed government. There are always going to be those that want to give them more power and money.

That's because UPS and Fedex don't have people actively working against against them. When USPS has attempted to raise money or reduce costs they were grandstanded by republican Congress looking to make an example of them.

Add in though if USPS fails, UPS and Fedex will be greatly effected negatively. As they both ship packages through the USPS shipping channels that would close.

Didn't GOP Congress borrow from post office retirement fund to help some costs for Iraq War?

The Post Office is a great service.

    that can't be true

it's never in the GOP handbook to do such a thing or purposefully make sure a program fails so they can point at it and say "see, gov't doesn't work"

    yep

most of the Amazon and stuff now that starts with fedex or ups ends as a USPS delivery if it isn't something that is overnight

The Post Office and its importance might be the first time I've seen sturg disagree with the Founders as they created it and saw it necessary for the country.

The post office is a failure who is defaulting on its debts to its workers because of its failures.

Being able to send messages and packages is important. We have alternatives who know what they are doing and have outperformed USPS hands down.

y'all can celebrate failure... you should be used to by now. I'd imagine Bernie is still trumpeting Venezuela too.

Why do (R) assume government services are / or to be judged for profit > or even a break even proposition ?

I would judge it to be able to pay its debts and obligations... if it can't, it needs to stop making them.

    I found this link interesting
    http://online-shipping-blog.endicia....on-chart-2016/

and would think government services would be judged by the "services" end of the phrase.

Perhaps they should change the name of all post offices to Hillary's.

Because it is (R)'s favorite whipping boy

To your point, a re organization might be in order but it is hard to re organize when the people in power are hell bent on elimination
