Yes....yes you did. He is trying to prove O’day is untrable because Branch signed for 3 million...which is one of the cheapest contracts this year. Who knows lol. O’day is high at 10 mil for sure.

Also, I actually like the idea of pursuing Gio <ducks tomato> if we can shake loose of Teheran in a reasonable way.
Especially since they just traded Puig...

Bingo. It’s either idiotic, or there is another plan in motion we don’t know about.

There are scenarios where Gio makes sense on a 1 year deal, almost all of which revolve around trading Newk and/or Teheran.

Or he's playing the long game.

So far, he hasnt traded any major prospects, hasnt made any bad FA signings to this point. Chess, not checkers.

I would have liked some more moves, but making moves just for the sake of making moves doesnt workout sometimes.

So we'd make Markakis a primary fourth outfielder?

I mean, the lineup is elite lol

    Acuna LF
    Donaldson 3B
    Freeman 1B
    JTR C
    Castellanos/Markakis RF
    Albies 2B
    Ender CF
    Swanson SS

Sullivan just gave his take on the Pollock deal (4/55 with a 5th year guarntee of $5M only there to lower the AAV to $12M per year):

    https://blogs.fangraphs.com/dodgers-...sive-breakout/

He didn't really say anything we haven't already discussed, but there was this tidbit...

I thought this would cost the Dodgers their second-highest draft pick, which is currently slotted in at No. 31, but that pick is compensation for not signing J.T. Ginn last year, and I’m given to understand those kinds of compensation picks are also protected. Assuming that’s true, the Dodgers are actually out the No. 64 overall pick instead. In terms of valuation, the difference between pick 31 and pick 64 is considered to be millions of dollars.

So wait a second, those compensation picks are protected? We have assumed all off season that the Braves would lose their pick in the 60s for signing a QO FA because of the extra pick they got for not signing Stewart.

What if this quote means the Braves would really only lose their 3rd round pick for signing a QO FA, a pick in the 90s?

No. That rule only applies for the dodgers, Cubs, Yankees and red Sox’s.

    Actually...

    Brach is projected for ~50 IP, a 4+ ERA/FIP and 0.1 WAR.

    O'Day is projected for ~50 IP, a 3.5+ ERA/FIP, and 0.6 WAR.

So yes, O'Day is at least 2x the pitcher Brach is.

What other stupid comment do you have to add?

I read a rumor somewhere this week (maybe here) that the Dodgers are going to take a similar hit due to international signing violations. If the Dodgers are forced to turn a dozen or so prospects into free agents, do we (or even can we, given our punishment) replenish our minor leagues with their prospects?

I suppose there is a hold on those prospects not allowing them to trade for say JTR, right? Also if the dodgers do lose prospects and the right to sign internationally, trading for realmuto doesn't seem like a great idea

That is a good question bc they wouldn’t be international free agents anymore so we should be able to sign them.

Interesting. Is there a hold on their prospects? If so, how does this favor us in the JTR dealings?
