We will see about that. The pitching has a chance to be really damn good which keeps teams in games.

How did we at least not get Liriano out of this? The Pads have like 32 outfielders

Thats fine and all I just don't think people are being consistent.
Beane gets legit talent in return.

I don't love the package but that's ridiculous. Sucks Fried is out a while with Tommy John but he was the 7th overall pick and has done nothing to disappoint except get hurt. We wouldn't get a pitcher like him with just a draft pick. Other pieces need to work out though. Mallex Smith is very interesting....love how much he gets on base for a big speed guy.

Fried is a legit TOR arm. He has to come back from injury obviously but lets not act like he is a scrub here. The other players are also intersting according to some guys (JJ Cooper).

If you can't score you can't win. The Braves will be last in runs scored this year.

Fried has been pretty bad since being drafted

I hope the Padres grabbed Norris to give him to us.

An arm that won't pitch in 2015. He has a higher chance to be constantly injured then a productive MLB pitcher.

LHP Max Fried: 1st round pick from 2012 (7th overall)
INF Jace Peterson: 1st round pick from 2011 (58th overall)
3B Dustin Peterson: 2nd round pick from 2013
OF Maxell Smith: 5th round pick from 2012 (also drafted in the 13th round in 2011)

I don't like losing Upton, but I trust the front office's sense that they weren't going to be able to re-sign him. This does not look like a bad haul to me, especially since I really doubt the Padres will get more than one year (and a draft pick) out of Upton.

Friend was borderline top 50 before tearing his arm up. Guys with Tommy John have to be less though of when coming off injury. (see draft status of guys with arm troubles)

This has to be a safe bet right?

Oh well, depressing return, but it's better than a draft pick. Of course you could possibly get a better player than Max Fried in the draft, but you are more likely to not.

Overall though it's not as good as I hoped when I had my heart set on Taijuan, Paxton, etc. But that was obviously never a reality.

    Rebuilding sucks.

We were pretty close to last in runs scored last year, and that was WITH Heyward and Upton.

There are plenty of TOR arms toying around in the minor leagues; several of them not recovering from Tommy John.

Yup. So imagine how craptastic we will be without them.
