True, this Padres team is so bad I am surprised they came in with 5 wins. Hopefully we sweep them tomorrow, but this is a team we should take 3 of 4 at home. They are very bad.

That said, I believe we should have a better record now than we do. We got swept by the Pirates and that series wasn't well managed. Snit the first two series didn't manage the bullpen well at all. I didn't like our bench management either but it's bad anyway.

BTW, great game by Colon today. I'd let him have a shot at finishing it but oh well. Inciarte, Phillips and Flowers had very good day too.

Probably right. Reds and Phillies don't have much at all.

It isn't scary how good this offense could be when kemp comes back. And that is with little to no production out of 2 big time positions.

If Swanson and Garcia could get their heads out of their asses....

Don't forget that jace could potentially improve 3B if he is correctly used as part of a platoon. Need one more reliable versatile bench player.

I'm not too worried about Swanson, but if this continues we should probably move up Phillips and drop him down in the line-up to see if that helps. Maybe when Kemp returns.

That was supposed to say "I'm not the guy you're talking about"—but I do remain a skeptic regarding this team's potential to win 78+ games.

I'm trying not to get impressed or even excited after a series win (hopefully sweep) of the lowly Padres, but damn if I don't love winning.

If our CF hits 35 homers. Do we need much production from 3B. Especially since our LF will have a 27 war as well

Don't forget our 10 WAR second baseman who will steal 40 bags.

35 is on the high side... 30/30 club is a lock though

I would say the less contact/more power approach is paying off for Ender right now

Would it be a meaningful improvement, was kind of the gist of my question.

One or two extra hits in key sports could make a difference for sure.

Way too early to know, But we are currently on a 8 game, 4+ runs scored, streak. If this offense can continue to produce runs, the pitching will be just enough to help us win more than we lose.

Now our only games below 4 were against the Mets' vaulted pitching staff, so the news is still good.

Jace has the same career OPS as Adonis does against righties. Jace isn't the answer to any kind of problem.

Huge over reaction to not producing against the metz top three but embracing small samples is to be expected.

I don't think runs are going to be the problem. Pitching is the problem, IMO.
