These guys just do not look like the same team as earlier this year. They are a little more like we thought they would be.

I don’t think they are this bad, but man....the All Star break can’t get here quick enough.

Of course the Phillies are playing way over their heads in the same time span.

It's getting to the point of being too late. The schedule is about to be a huge deal... the Phillies have a huge advantage, and they're in front

We have wasted two really great starts by Julio and Sanchez this week also.

Now 1-7 at Suntrust in Friday games, which was even during this teams good run, which is mindboggling. Also 4-12 overall on Friday games.

But it's bad bad bad to not get this one, the next 2 matchups are pretty unfavorable.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Even if that did turn out to be the case...I mean, you do understand that we are currently in the playoffs if the season ended today, right? Or do you think the only way to make the playoffs is to win the division?

The Phillies have hit their easy stretch and are actually taking advantage of it...we can't exactly say much as we did well against the Marlins ourselves but for the most part the Braves have failed to take advantage of bad out of the division teams. Blowing June was terribad but not crippling. Blowing August would be if it happens. I do think this team can play better but August just can't be a near .500 record...can't be or I'll tell you even if the Braves are in a playoff spot at that moment, it's going to result in a missed playoff spot.

I still think the nats make a run, and make playoffs as wildcard or division winner.

Nats/Phillies both make it (I am starting to doubt nats though)
    Cubs win central
    Dodgers win west
    Brewers wildcard

Hopefully the nats do stay bad, and it becomes braves and dbacks for last spot

In fact, I'll give a general number here. It'd be nice if the Braves could go into the break having won the next 2 games but ending July at 7-6 or 8-5 isn't bad. That would mean the Braves have a 58-47 or 59-46 record.

Then in August, outside of a series with Milwaukee at home and Washington, depending on how they look (plus a Cubs makeup), you have 8 games with the Marlins, 4 with the Mets, 4 with the Rockies, and 4 with Pittsburgh. This is 20 games against meh/below .500 teams (more if you feel Washington is that but who knows what they are). If August gets thrown in the trash can like June was due to especially that Orioles series, the Braves are pretty deep in the soup. September is hella hard. Regardless of how July ends, August almost for sure is going to have to be April like, if not even better. (17-12 to 19-10) I've said the Braves are probably in good shape with 80+ wins heading into September, but getting to 75-77 wins would probably count as good shape too.

And if you notice, I think way out in advance too much sometimes.

Snit said he won't tinker with the lineup until after the All-Star Break.

    What a doofus.

Before gloom and dooming over the Phillies, considered who they've played the last week or so. I am concerned about the Braves, to be sure, but I am less concerned about the Phillies. They are beating teams they should beat; something the Braves would have been advised to do in the last month.

They beat who they're supposed to beat. Now imagine if machado and Britton get added... they'll be supposed to beat even more teams.

I feel like this team can’t handle success. They thrive by being the under dogs.

    I have a plan....sell at the deadline.

Not a big sell, but any “sell” that will get us better for the next few years (as was originally planned).

If I’m right....we will promptly go on a ten game win streak.

For once, I'd just love to see how the sabermetric lineup would work. That won't happen under Snitker unless AA just takes over.

I know lineup construction doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of winning and losing, but I'd still like to see:

    Markakis-Freeman-Albies-Acuna-Catcher-Camargo-Swanson-Pitcher-Inciarte

I'd like markakis, albies, ff, catcher, Acuna. After that shuffle how you like. While markakis and FF both hit lefties well, I'd still like albies in between for those really tough lefty specialists

Philly is just beating who they should beat. Braves had that chance and didnt do it.

Even if it ends in a 80-85 win season and they falter in the 2nd half, it's still a good year.

And might not be a bad thing if the team falters and AA doesnt make a big trade which results in no playoffs this year.
